Hi
I want to install EVE on my laptop but it seems silly to redowload the entire game when it is installed on my current machine. As bandwidth is limited where I live (and costly) is it possible to copy the EVE client from one machine to another? If so what files and directories do I need to move and are there any registry issues?

All you need to do is just take the EVE folder where you installed it and move that. You will have to redo your settings (color, overview settings etc) on the new computer.

because they can't put the settings in the same folder or on the servers... it would be too complicated.
Also they don't have time to address all the REAL problems so this answer will count towards this week mod/dev quotas of interaction with us. good job.

It is actually the Right Thing(tm) to not to store the settings in the program's folder, since one doesn't have write permissions to it (you DO use a regular user account and not an administrator account for playing, don't you?) but rather in a folder in the user's home directory, preferably a subfolder in AppData. So, copy that as well to the target user's home folder on the target machine as well and you're good.
So, it's not laziness, it's actually a recommended design decision.

Excuse me, but this doesn't work. I saved my EvE to my external harddrive, reformatted my computer, tried to play. Splash screen, no start.
Are there any frameworks installed with EVE? If so, it would explain why I can't just plug 'n play. |

You need to install DirectX and the Microsoft C++ redist. I think you can find both in the bin folder of Eve.
