First let me say I haven't played for some time and only recently re-subscribed. When I last followed EVE news, WiS was the new fancy thing being discussed(not yet implemented), and I clearly remember the promises made about players not being forced to participate in it.
And yet I can't seem to find an option to turn it off anywhere, what's that about?
I tried giving it some time to get used to it, but I genuinely do not like the entire captain's quarters package, I much preferred the functionality of the previous station UI (simple hangar with current ship suspended in the middle) It removed quite a bit of functionality from the station UI that I know used to be there (e.g. double-clicking the center of the screen for cargohold) It added annoying features that I have no use for like the stupid television displays that open up UI-windows if you click them by accident (and it's not like they are useful alternatives to the buttons you normally use since they rotate what window they open)
I would love it if I am just missing the option to turn it off, but I have really looked through everything. If it's there, I can't find it.
Why, CCP, did you go back on your promise about it being optional? I am disappointed to say I used to think of CCP as the top of the ladder when it came to their interaction between themselves and the community.
I would love to say my disappointment was offset by something else which has improved, but the only thing I can think of is the in-game browser, which is better by far compared to the old. But still, alt-tab remains the best. As it stand right now I am not in the mood to renew my subscription. (and no, you can't have my stuff)

Display & Graphics > Graphic Content Settings > Uncheck "Load Station Environment"
Probably solved.

that option doesn't solve anything. It just puts an ugly static image, doesn't bring back anything useful. just brings ugly.

Spend a few days with it checked and eventually you will learn to love the door.

I will give it a try, you may be right. But I still miss the extra functionality of the old UI

Welcome to Incarna. If you don't like it, than CCP is just showing you where the door is.

Ugh...are people so lazy as to REQUIRE the ship spinning when the same ship hangar view to click on / see what ship is active, and the hotkeys are still available?

That argument is terrible. If they moved the "activate module" function to the right click menu exclusively (remove shortcut too), would you also say people are lazy for wanting single-click activation back? After all, It's *just* 1 more click, 1 more click wont kill you. 1 click is nothing! That's the same argument as you just made.
It has nothing to do with lazyness, It was a good use of UI space and clicks, which they removed after promising that what has now replaced it would be optional.

I have no idea what point you are trying to make.
Many posts since Incarna have whined about functionality lost when it is still there via hotkeys (alt c for cargo opening or double click the ship in ship hangar window) and what ship is currently active (current ship active is highlighted in ship hangar view).

awsome hotkeys, something every PC game should have, not have hotkeys plus old hanger and we are back in buisness
FACTS Incarna is lagzilla Incarna is a resource hog incarna looks pretty bad incarna adds nothing to core gameplay many people turned off incarna Incarna should be a button in the old hanger, not forced like it is now ship spinning in the hanger >>>>>>>> ship spinning in the fitting window

Old station interiors were awesome.
New station interiors were okay but pretty bland.
Static image is terrible and makes me want to log out. CQ is laggy and really the novelty wore off after a few minutes. These are my options now?
Meh, I'll check out the game again next time you offer a free week. I'll resub then if I see an actual improvement in the game.
Oh yeah, about my sig... you have now read it.
