Not bad for amateur work, could use more of a hook. Overall it reminded me of Martha Stewart comparing the pros and cobe of "towel on the floor" vs "bathmat".
The main difference is Martha eventually concluded "towel on the floor" was the most hygienic thus superior. Your interview failed to move anywhere and I do not feel more informed after reading. In fact, I am highly concerned about the future of journalism if this is what we have come to expect.
On a friendlier note it is good to see stratics hasn't let being consistently flawed affect their ambitions. :-)

"We managed to snag..." Credibility is all a journalist has. All in-house interviews are preplanned. Please tell me you don't think that line is an actual teaser.

EVE Is Real is a joke. Why would establshied players be interested in working with the sorry excuse of a site when all it s supposed to be is a one-click eye-candy protal for potential customers for CCP?
**** that, tbh.

Edited by: Alex Sinai on 17/08/2011 10:55:34 I didn't looked at interview since i don't believe that in-house interviews can be anything beyond carefully selected and staged sessions from beginning until end.
Am i missing something? Iceland located on planet Earth or i messed something in school and it's somewhere around Mars or beyond?
Because so far PR, community handling and marketing departments use methods that was tried and thrown out by majority of companies in gaming industry a long time ago. Due to huge losses these methods incur to them in a long run.
At first i did not even understood the idea of Eveisreal site. But then i liked it and think its nice idea. However i don't intend to post any content there because of rewards in Aurum currency. Thanks but no thanks.
If you want everyone interested in interview with CCP developer do one that will be performed by independent journalist from established publisher like IGN or GameSpy or similar. But these journalists will ask questions that is way out of script and you have no control over what goes online. Might be news-flash and influx of players to the game. Might be disaster. Of course doing such interview at the moment would probably end up in disaster since questions asked will be interesting for sure. Answers too. But PR wont survive this. And won't allow to happen for starters. So, we have in-house interviews.
Sorry EVE Stratics, nothing personal but it's just CCP reputation among players really below icing temperatures after the installment of MT shop despite "not having plans for MT shop" assurances a year ago, Incarna failure, emails and empty CCP/CSM announcement. Before all that happen i'm sure would be very interested in in-house interview. But after all that, CCP simply don't have enough credibility points for it.
As Himlar excellently put it in his letter that CCP don't care what we say, only what we do players follow the same road now. We look at what CCP does, not at what it says.

Your interview is ****, frankly. It said nothing new except for giving the guy a bit of marketing time to push that **** site back into the attention of an uninterested player base. Further, stratics is **** and has been **** for many years now.
Go the **** away, we dont want your crap interviews because you basically allow them to pick what questions are/aren't answered. This was pre-arranged, and its blatantly obvious. You, and the rest of stratics disgust me. --

That's such an interesting response. Par for the course - it certainly didn't address what I said. Maybe there was a ghost post only you could see.

I know, right? They pretty much can't deny it was staged - which it was - because CCP PR/Marketing took over the reigns of this game and are driving it into the ground. Besides, Stratics is a terrible website anyway. I havent paid mind to their site in over five years. --

Setting up interviews is usually fairly easy allthough there can be a bit of planning going into it (mostly about who to talk to and whether or not they want to), but as a Fansite (Stratics is player driven on multiple levels) there are simply things you can't do when interacting with gaming companies and their employees. At least not if you plan on continuing to bring interviews or exclusive articles. The result is that we have no choice but to adhere to these unwritten rules of conduct that allow us to continue bringing interviews.
That being said you bring up an interesting point about having a neutral organisation asking the questions. Do you think that would mean that players would get their questions answered?
If you had a choice, who would you like to see interviewed and what questions would you ask?
It could definately be an interesting experiment to set up a completely playerdriven interview, and while there are rules (mostly language) to adhere to within the Stratics organisation - we would be more than happy to bring player submissions into play and use our connections to land an interview with the person of your choice. No guarantees of course, but we certainly wouldn't mind trying.
If you want to, feel free to drop an evemail about the best approach of setting something like this up and we'll see what can be done.
Would you be opposed to a carefully planned and staged interview, if it was carefully planned and staged by players? EVE Stratics|TGN Stratics Youtube Show|Forums |

Sorry for late reply EVE Stratics. Was caught in RL things and reply to your post required preparation and calm environment around.

I admit there is unspoken rules for interviews which mostly concern language and general conduct. However, every company dream about big time publishing house or established journalist interview since it is advertising, public relations and promoution at the same time. Best part of it is that it is completely free minus travel expenses of journalist and his/her team. But established journalists research the topics of upcoming interview deep and ask polite but very inconvenient questions sometimes. Or questions that company not really like to answer. Of course company have option to deny interview, but it's really not an option. Journalist or publisher may just go ahead and publish an article which in that case might be really not friendly or ask questions in it with comment that company denied interview on the topics mentioned. So, no. In reality no company in sane standing will ever deny an interview request. It's too dangerous for reputation and it's always better to know what's cooking and brace for impact or prepare for moment of glory then deal with damages to reputation due to unanswered questions.
Originally by: EVE Stratics Do you think that would mean that players would get their questions answered?
All of them, no. Most important probably yes. Depend on questions asked.

If you had a choice, who would you like to see interviewed and what questions would you ask?
At CCPs current stage of relations with it's playerbase I would ask for an interview with PR manager and CCP Guard. Reasons behind it very simple. I am friendly to EVE Online creator. Good PR manager can provide deep and reflective answers and it is the only person within any company structure apart from CEO who can decide what to say in public. CCP Guard have excellent reputation in the community and his presence will add up to PR manager credibility plus restrain him/her from "excessive optimism". I would ask questions about CCP's vision of EVE Online in future, ask for more details. I would then ask about NoX store, what's behind it's creation and what it's future going to be, in details. After that I would touch bugs fixes ETA and general comments about it from CCP. I would ask about Incarna development. And last i would close the interview with very friendly but detailed questions about EVE Online and Dust 514 interaction plans and may be some kind of sneak peak on it.

I would support such an interview. Also it would be great idea to do this interview "On Air". Meaning direct broadcast. Not a recording. That may restore some points to CCPs reputation within the community and show that the company is still open minded and care about it's player base concerns. Of course announced and broadcasted via EVE Online site would be perfect. But that's in a perfect world.

Thanks for the last responce here.
Considering the proposed format ("on air"), I may have a few ideas on how to facilitate something that everyone can participate in.
