Be careful what advice you follow here.
The main problem with this thread is; People who don't even fly a Hyperion are telling you how effective it is even though they don't really know.
They try a few fittings in EFT and don't like the way they look and decide the Hype sucks. Or try a couple missions with a bad fit, then give-up because it doesn't work right.
Who cares if there is another ship out there that makes a few more ISK per hour. Or it's way easier to fly (just sit there and watch tv while your drones do everything for you).
Some people like to actually play this game, and actually FLY thier ships.
If you like the Hype, then JUST DO IT!
The key to the Hype is fitting it right. You shouldn't fit it like everything else. 2 tracking computers WITH both sets of scripts make ALL the difference.
Originally by: Zhilia Mann OP, if you want to fly a Hyp, just come out and say that despite all the reasons not to, you want to fly a Hyp. It's an admittedly great looking ship, it just happens to be absolute **** for your purposes. It's gimped on everything right down to targeting range -- everything you do has to compensate for its weaknesses.
But I guess you could do it this way:
[Hyperion, Hyperion mission ship] Imperial Navy Large Armor Repairer Imperial Navy Armor Kinetic Hardener Imperial Navy Armor Thermic Hardener Magnetic Field Stabilizer II Magnetic Field Stabilizer II Magnetic Field Stabilizer II
Cap Recharger II Cap Recharger II Cap Recharger II Tracking Computer II, Optimal Range Tracking Computer II, Optimal Range
425mm Railgun II, Caldari Navy Antimatter Charge L 425mm Railgun II, Caldari Navy Antimatter Charge L 425mm Railgun II, Caldari Navy Antimatter Charge L 425mm Railgun II, Caldari Navy Antimatter Charge L 425mm Railgun II, Caldari Navy Antimatter Charge L 425mm Railgun II, Caldari Navy Antimatter Charge L 425mm Railgun II, Caldari Navy Antimatter Charge L 425mm Railgun II, Caldari Navy Antimatter Charge L
Large Ancillary Current Router I Large Auxiliary Nano Pump I Large Auxiliary Nano Pump I
Hammerhead II x5
This is a pretty good fit! As with everything, adjust to your style/taste. This is very similar to my fit. A couple of things I do differently:
Dropp a cap recharger for an AB. This will speed things-up and help you dictate range more effectively.
Change the Nano Pumps to Capacitor control circuits. You don't usually need that much tank. If you need more tank just swap Mag Stabs for Hardeners. This way you will have more versatillity. (You can change modules but not rigs, and cap is useful in all missions.)
Like I said earlier though, the tracking comps (with scrips) are KEY. They enable you to hit AND do decent damage to rats from 10km out to 70km.
