Edited by: Lester Knight Chaykin on 20/08/2011 13:06:22 I was thinking how enjoyble nullsec space used to be some years ago, (when a battleship was such an achievement, yes that far). Fleet fights were not so big and small gangs and solo used to be more viable; today there's blobbage everywhere and capital and supercapitals make it not easy nor funny for small groups.
So i was thinking: would adding a lot more solarsystems spread people more? Or giving small groups a chance maybe? It should be harder for any alliance to control a huge portion of space since i'm talking about adding a freaking lot of sys. But anyway i'm not even sure that would work actually; alliances always get bigger and bigger and i think there's no limit to the richness some of the biggest alliances can achieve. But the players numbers should be a limit at least, so they can't control too many portions of space.
I'm not here to complain or anything, i still love the game, but i'd like to here from you if you have the same feeling or it is just me and my bad luck maybe :P

I take you have not been to 0.0 recently? probably 75% of systems are devoid of life. This is because its not worth living in anything under -0.5. Check out estoria region... went through 12 systems there last week, saw 1 person.
The problem isn't the amount of systems, its that everyone crams into the pockets with the best stuff. Smaller corps could take random systems, but the income would suck.

Yeah that's what i mean, all the good sys are extremely heavy defended and it's basically impossible to take them for small groups. That's fair, but having to bring a ridiculous huge supercapfleet in order to succeed is not.
So why not making more worthy systems where even small groups can go and fight for them? I don't know... i'd just love to see more action and withouth the ridiculous huge and laggy supercap blobs

Try putting up a POS and see what happens....
I would direct the OP to the Features and Ideas section where major discussion is underway on how to revamp 0.0 and make it more viable for those without a supercap blob/rmt bot fleet.

Simple, you will get steamrolled by a big alliance in days, who will then sell the system for rent to some pubbies.
See wspace if you want a quiet life, constant access to null holes for pew, no worries of supers and good isk.

There is no point to creating more regions or systems in EVE, they'd just be taken over by the DRF. As it stands the Russian block will control null sec before the end of the year or shortly there after. If you want to live in null, you'll need to pay rent to one of them and they'll give you a ****ty system to live in. It's sad but that is what EVE has become. The only true free space left out there that the big blocks can't control is Wspace.

CCP have already addressed this issue and decided it was easier to get rid of players rather than add solar systems. |

Smaller corps could move out, but then they would get destroyed by the nearest big alliances. Or they wouldn't make money because of the extortion of the nearest big alliances.
We don't really need more systems, we need the massive nerf or outright removal of jump bridges; starbases and titans. Make moving a large fleet around harder, and the big alliances won't want to bother curb stomping the little guys.
More stargates out into null would be nice too. As it stands, traveling through null is easy. Getting to null past the huge gate camps in the gateway systems is the pain.

tbh getting into nullsec is very easy if you know what you're doing.
Travel light, lean towards low-sec entrance points rather then high>null gates and set evemaps.dotlan.net to show how many kills have been in the system in the past half an hour. If it's above a small handful, don't use that system. |
