As we were forced to show actions and not words by CCP management (Hilmars letter), i have seen many friends and corporations go inactive and assemble as a whole in new games (World of Tanks for PVP, Perpetuum for a continued EVE-feeling and others...)
Also i have been following on how the media reflects the uprising within EVE and the response that did not really feel like an apology.
I know myself of over 30 accounts that went inactive due to how CCP is driving this. Also there are various server statistics that show that the EVE population is on a down swing since the release of Incarna and specifically the NeX shop with AUR.
The thing is: I want to play the game. But i feel backstabbed by CCP and currently my dignity will not allow me to come back as much as i wanted to.
So CCP, please send a clear message to the playerbase on how you will fix this mess. And be sure to make it well known so i don't miss it when i can come back with quiet conscience.

U mad bro?
Nobody cares about your 15 dollars more or less, even if it's 30 players or 300 or eve 3000. Play the game and learn to accept that it will change from better to worse and other way around from time to time, because that's the process of development and stop whining because your spaceship got broken.

I couldn't have said it better myself .
If you can't accept change , then do us all a favour , and don't come back ever . Less whiners to deal with the better .

That thread is bull****. There are so many whiners on the forums yet so little people actually unsubbed. And the ones who did came back in a matter of weeks. Or will eventually.
And EvE IS on the rise, you are just too narrow minded to accept the change and you will be left behind along with the other slow-boaters. And then you will eventually sell your char and donate your ISK or just come back when you will realize that EvE is the best there is on the market even if not the best that it could be.
So until anyone else with 8 year of spaceship MMO experience comes along and makes a pewpew-spaceship game that is better and cheaper and permits the same levels of freedom please shut it.
If you think that YOU know better than one of the best DEV teams in the world that managed to keep their head up for years and years and improve the game over and over please do the world a favor and go into the woods. And stay there.

Stalin killed off anyone who disagreed with him, and others "just because". Eventually, the only people left around him were all "yes men" that in modern gaming parlance we call fanboiz. Sounds like that's happening in EvE.
To the OP: save you feelings of betrayal and indignity for real life. This is a game. I think all these recent changes are terrible, but it's still only a game.

EVE Offline has been tracking the logins for years. And, CCP has always stated that there is a direct correlation between active subscriptions and people online. I know you feel like EVE is getting better and better, but the numbers show that a noticeable (and rather large) amount of people disagree and are showing it by taking their money and leaving.
Originally by: Forumtroll Douchebag EvE is the best there is on the market even if not the best that it could be.
I definitely agree with you there. EVE is the best sandbox game on the market. I also agree with you that it is not the best it could be. I'll go a step further and tell you that it's not even as good as it was 18 months ago, when the devs were focused on :internet spaceships:.
Originally by: Forumtroll Douchebag If you think that YOU know better than one of the best DEV teams in the world that managed to keep their head up for years and years and improve the game over and over please do the world a favor and go into the woods. And stay there.
Which DEV team is that? Team BFF and its 9 members? Team Gridlock and its 11 members?
To your knowledge, what other DEV teams are working on FiS and :internet spaceships:? CCP has over 600 employees. To the general public's knowledge, only 20 of them are working on improvements to the game. We already know that there are plenty of people working on DUST 519 and World of Darkness. Not to mention the plethora of artists and coders that are giving EVE such luxuries as $68 monocles and boots that cost almost as much as a Vagabond. But, what other content are they developing? A general outline of a plan that will improve aspects of 0.0 over the next four years?
MMOs, like any other type of service industry, are about "what can you provide to me", not "what did you do for me 3 years ago". And, speaking of 3 years ago, how's my Faction Warfare coming along? Wasn't there a Dev Blog for that coming out in a couple weeks? I remember you saying the guy that wrote it had just got back from vacation and it'd be up in a couple days... Back in June.
Of course, since you are most likely a troll, please place your left hand under your right elbow, raise your right hand upwards while lifting with your left, and pull hard so you can give yourself a nice, big pat on the back. You've earned it, forum warrior. Your tireless desire to sound as uneducated and unreasonable as possible has paid off. Your dedication to the art of making yourself look like an idiot has once again earned you the respect of all as you laugh haughtily at my wall of text. In your world, everything revolves around you, o' Master of the Misinformation, for in our world you probably have your own gravitational pull.

Trolls will beat a dead horse and then argue about whether or not they heard a whinny. As long as EVE has two subscribers, at least one of them will be a troll.

I've also noticed a trend. When prevented with evidence to the contrary, people who adamantly refuse to change their views turn out to be trolls or Christian. BOOM! Athiest vs. Christian debate... GO!

What looks good? The apparent decline in active players?
Scroll down to the All Time (Daily Average) graph and let's take a look.
Let's go with July as mid-summer and December as mid-winter. Those should work for "summer vacations" and "Christmas vacations" for purposes of play-time trends.
Winter Low Average: 2008 = 25,700 2009 = 30,000 2010 = 33,700
Summer Low Average: 2009 = 27,500 2010 = 29,000 2011 = 29,000
Now, as you can see, the winter 2008 led to an increase in players in summer of 2009. And, there were more players in winter of 2009 than there were that summer. And, in summer of 2010, it increased again. Winter of 2010 saw an increase again of the amount of players logged on.
Now we come to Summer 2011. As far back as March 15, 2006, the graph shows a continuous increase in the average players. Every since year. Ever one. The numbers go up. Except for Summer 2011. Best case scenario, they have plateaud. But, from looking at the graph, there appears to be the start of a downward trend.

Edited by: Bane Necran on 21/08/2011 20:12:47 A change of a couple thousand is nothing to get excited about. You can see that happening in either direction every month. It's all very flukey. There is nothing new or unique going on.
With threads claiming the game is empty, and everyone quit, you're going to have to show something equally dramatic to back them up.

Dear Hwong, let me explain. And as a side note, you should try Forex when you have some money to waste because you will learn a lot about trends and graphs.
If you look purely from your perspective, you are correct indeed. This summer has seen a drop in the increase of players. But not because people started protesting and shooting the Amarr monument. No. But because with the launch of Incarna, a lot of hardwares (PC's) can not run EvE anymore. I know you and everyone posting here might have a super pro awesome rig, but A LOT of chinese farmers don't, a lot of players throughout Europe don't but they did have an average PC that could run the (old) EvE and WoW on low details.
After a patch comes that renders you unable to play - and if you check out other studies you will find out that at least 40 percent of the playerbase have PC's under the minimum requirements for EvE - I think you are bound to have a slight decrease in subscription until evolution happens or prices drop on the hardware IRL market.
Also consider this: before Incarna, people ran 14 accounts. You can barely run 3 now.
Besides the obvious reason please take into account all the nerd-ragers who quit and will come back eventually. Most of them at least. This has been one of CCP's biggest bad moves and the awareness around it is just higher. That is all there is to it.

Now you're arguing the semantics and or reasons why people have stopped playing. But, the underlying fact is that they have stopped playing. And, whether or not people eventually come back is a moot point at this particular stage.
What matters is that, regardless of reasons, the number of people playing this game is apparently either declining or stagnating.
Take the word "apparently", ignore the rest of what I've said, and carry on. That way you can be a troll.
Or, respond to the entire statement and help facilitate a discussion on the subject.
