For anyone whose currently frustrated with anything eve related and is just tired of fighting the current trend.
I now present the official forum "Sigh..." thread.
*DISCLAIMER*
This is not a rage thread, we've got plenty of those so if you want to argue go somewhere else. In this thread we gets to be sad, very very sad.
So lets me start this off.

I guess I sometimes wonder what the origin of all this is.
I don't think there's a single player who's actually happy about the NEX. I mean, nobody likes forking out extra money. If all the NEX clothes were suddenly added to the existing outfit pool, nobody would really object.
Now, I don't like saying "CCP just cares about money", because CCP isn't a thing; It's a corporation with a great many people employed within it. And I wonder to myself sometimes, who had the idea for the NEX? Who chose the prices? Who decided that CCP needed a microtransaction store anyway? How much of it was need, how much of it was greed? Who was even in the position to be greedy?
I want to hate somebody. I want a blame figure. I want to know who's ****ing me up the ass, but they wear a mask which says "CCP" on it. But I know the difference between the guys who build the engine and the guys who count the beans.
Hilmar is probably the easiest blame figure, because ultimately, he can't exactly shift the blame onto anybody else.
The worst part is probably that I seem to be alone in my specific form of bitterness. Everybody else either has a blind total hatred of CCP as an entire entity and wouldn't be pleased if they got given gold-plated fleshlights, or else absolutely sucks down anything that gets shat down their throat like a fat chick on a chocolate binge.
I'm still ****ed off about that one dev mouthing off and saying that CCP "pulls resources from other projects to work on Eve", casually ignoring the fact that those other projects are being funded by Eve in the first place.
Sigh.

even better...more updates than lp store. has the same setup from the pre-exploration buff eve patch way back. What changed....? way more ds gear on the market that does it better and better priced in the case of low grade c type gear (or is actually worth the extra cost for the b and a's).
Course eve players shoot themselves in the foot here. They buy the crap items there. except the few items per race worht a damn (rf gyro, cn invul for example)....most of the lp stuff from empire not the wisest buys usually.

Sigh.
Dealing in absolutes...
I spent more PLEX on AUR than PLEX on ISK over the last month. Why? Because I like what I see, and because I can. Judging from avatars there are others that do as well.
The addage is, if anyone could afford NEX items they wouldn't be exclusive. As with all exclusive things some who can afford it will buy it, some who could afford it won't buy it, like in real live. Gold plated Rolls Royce aren't for everyone (and a lot of people who could afford them thankfully have a sense of taste), even normal Rolls Royce are not, nonetheless, there is a company that makes them.
CCP's main mistake is not throwing out cheap or free alternatives to keep the masses in check.

Jesus, if someone would have told me 2-3 years ago that CCP could sell "Barbie Dolls: Online" for RL cash I would have called them an imbecile.
Sigh, CCP really?

CCP Zymurgist, who apparently is a bit fascinated by the idea that some people who play WoW would pay in excess of $ 500 for a Spectral Tiger.
That led him to the misconception that EVE is a hobby and people loves spending money in their hobbies, so giving out 20$ for a bloody virtual shirt would stick as a good idea in spite that NEx is a novelty, not a established feature, and nobody really appreciates "exclusive items".

I think i know how you feel but can't express it as well as some of the posts that appeared shortly after the release of Incarna. Players sensed the direction CCP was headed and after waiting 2 years for promised content and fixes were presented with an atrocity hyped as a huge improvement to game play. It was like having the wife turn into a crack ***** and not being able to do a damn thing about it except walk away. The heartbreak was watching something so full of exceptional greatness turn towards a path of less then average and disdain for the people that helped make it great - the players.

Citation? I know about the blogs and the newsletter, but that doesn't mean he picked the prices.
Originally by: Ishtanchuk Fazmarai That led him to the misconception that EVE is a hobby and people loves spending money in their hobbies
The misconception here is not actually that Eve is a hobby, but rather that people like spending money on their hobbies. People spend money on their hobbies because they love their hobbies. They don't enjoy the actual spending. Nobody enjoys spending for the sake of spending. Well, I expect a handful of very very strange and poor people do, but the average person spends because it's the only way to get what they want, not because money evaporating from their purse fills them with some sense of spiritual satisfaction.

I suspect you're thinking of Zinfandel - here's a snip from the CSM minutes :
"Regarding the power of virtual goods, CCP Zinfandel revealed that he not only plays World of Warcraft (shock!) but that he paid a substantial amount of money on eBay for a Spectral Tiger mount"
Interestingly the WoW EULA still states "Accordingly, you may not sell in-game items or currency for ôrealö money, or exchange those items or currency for value outside of the Game." which I guess makes Zinfandel eligible for the big banstick?

I guess I shouldn't be surprised that they've already resorted to recolored, rehashed designs for NEX items when they can't even finish 4 small rooms in 8 months. CCP arguably has the slowest 3D modellers in the industry.

*sigh* at Hangar not being default and CQ an exciting option therefrom.
*sigh* at the terminal boringness of what's on offer in the NEX store.
*sigh* when I think of the future of EVE as a themepark game with a legacy sandbox ghetto. *****
