Was all this work really scrapped? If so that is very disappointing, it actually looks really good.

So what, they give us one crappy room an realize how useless it is an scrap the rest of it? oooo maybe they will work on the SPACESHIPS part of this SPACESHIPS game instead of treating this game like WoD Beta

The game wasn't intended to be a sole spaceship simulator, it was meant to be a full sci-fi simulator.

You got caught in triple sarcasm.
Never seen the second one, but DS9 was so cool BECAUSE of ships. Imagine the Dominion war without ships.
Some of my favourite episodes didn't really had any ships on them.. (Visitor; On the Pale Moonlight. I'm looking at you).
anyway what i'm saying is that they compliment each other. ____________

For a great simulation of this experience, see if you can get a free week in Star Trek Online.
Then run screaming back here.
Then realize why ground sucks nuts an get out the pitchforks -------- CCP knows better than the players whats good for their game. SOE knew what was best for SWG too. Better than all those players that left too. This is your NGE/CU moment CCP. |

SWG PRE-CU JTL/Ground game
Sure there were a lot of bugs, and eventually the disastrous NGE but the ground and space combined were great.
I don't see why it can't work in EvE, do you have something against walking in stations?

Its pointless? As theyve already said there will be no PVP (unless of course they changed their mind on that), and its just CCP using EVE as a paid Beta for World of Darkness? Im pretty sure other ppl than just me can come up with more reasons.
Taking ppl away from fixing the issues in the game (rofl yeah thats REAL trollin right there) so we can play space Barbie dress up?
An my reference to the post NGE/CU in my sig refers to them ACTUALLY putting ONLY vanity items in the NeX cause the second they dont youll see ppl flooding outta here -------- CCP knows better than the players whats good for their game. people hate WIS and incarna because instead of it being something to do when docked/bored its forced on you.
almost no one would complain about CQ if when i docked i had the old ship hanger, then hit a button and stepped into CQ to walk around or w.e is u do in there.
in a few years, walking in stations can be great, but it will never work if its forced. Eve online next expansion details |

This was scrapped? As far as I can tell it's behind the door... They only decided to release the whole Walking in Stations content step-by-step, which is a good thing given the current performance issues.

Yeah it seems like there was a LOT of testing that needed to be done before this thing went live. I run lowest settings inside on the off chance I actually want to look at the TV, and the floor is see through in a lot of places... This is stuff they should have caught in testing.
Oh yeah, this IS testing.

Indeed I did and I agree that they compliment each other. It would be great to sit in a lounge in Jita IV - 4 and watch the outside shenanigans through panoramic glass. I might even be persuaded to pay pilots to fight each other for my amusement.
A lot of folks who don't follow closely dev blogs and such seem to be missing that CCP has stated that they wanted to roll Incarna out slowly. They're doing what they said they would do.

Though I doubt CCP will actually confirm this, but that video was based off of a previous engine that was scrapped. If you look there are major differences in the movement, textures, layout, and even design when comparing it to Incarna. It is my understanding that the name change from Ambulation to Incarna was made because they switched to the Carbon based engine. The switch was made most likely because they felt that it was going to be outdated very quickly and was around the time they started development on WoD.
Granted this is all speculation on my part, but I do think they should have kept the old engine or at least continue with the theme they where running it. Having something with super high graphics isn't what this game needs, and will cause major issues once the multiplayer aspect is released.

You have to undock and redock to make it work. So hypothetically you have it turned off during a CTA for faster ship switching, and then you get chased into a station to hide. Gonna take the extra time before docking to turn it on again?
The killer for me is that CQ is singleplayer and empty. It is literally the digital embodyment of an empty room. There's nothing inside.
I would have taken that videos promenade, as it was, with all its bugs, over the current CQ, because at least there was stuff there, and space to walk.
Even space to walk up and down might be slightly engaging, but CQ doesn't even have that. Its a 5m gang-plank with a 2m room at the end.

The game wasn't intended to be a sole spaceship simulator, it was meant to be a full sci-fi simulator.
They may have been the original intent but that intent changed. Now they specifically reserved all the on foot action/combat for a different game - dust. The only thing people in eve can do on foot is walk. -Cearain

The session timer when changing ships is being removed in the next patch.
You don't need to let the station environment fully load before you interact with it (change fittings, load/unload cargo, etc. and now presumably swapping ships and undocking again).
Even if they had gone with the "Ambulation" version we would have still started out small, with a single environment that would be expanded over time. Just because they can make a video doesn't mean it's ready for prime time and being hammered by 50k people at the same time.
Nobody will argue that Incarna currently is very limited, however most people understand that the current build is no more than step 1. ===== The world will not end in 2012, however there will be a serious nerf to Planetary Interaction. |

Logging out and back in is sufficient to turn it on, switching to the starmap and back is sufficient to turn it off. Switching to the starmap and back may be sufficient to turn it on (it takes aeons to load).

DS9 was never cool. All the actors were made out of wood and had no chemistry with each other.
