They don't have an active part to play in EVE at the moment, I hope they do one day though. As for the space, I think its just alliance tournament / dev playground at the moment.

Edited by: Marchocias on 30/08/2011 18:31:54 Its a storyline thing. Everyone is supposed to live with a perpetually combination of fear of, and gratitude for, the Jove.
And a private place for devs to hang about on the server. ---- I like the base. |

Devs used to have Jovian chars and they used to talk to us in character when they did. Also back in 2003 u could clone jump to jove space via setting cloning station there and killing ur self..

My bet is that CCP is killing off the Jove with this whole Sansha stuff going on. --------

It's pretty much a dev's playground and that's it. I hope that at some point it's either opened up with some kind of unique features to it that make it fun and interesting, or if not then the Jovians are in some way brought into the EvE world for the general population.

ok i understand if it is the devs playground but dont they already have an area of space for that. and i know i have seen a few jove ships on differnt webdites so what is the point in having a race that is not in the game.

The Jove are the big hammer that CCP can hold behind their back.
Their ships are impressive and fast. They dominate other races through trickery and deceit.
They are basicly the deux ex machina in eve.
In the past Jove where used on different occasion and could be seen flying around during events and such. What the future will bring...nobody knows. They brought us the cloak (through the luminaire project) and the Pod, perhaps they also are involved in the whole sansha thing and the current rogue scientist. - Hilmar getur ekki tala= vi= ¦ig n·na, hann er a= fara f japanska tfskuverslun.

Don't worry Jove ships will be available soon in the Nex shop. Start gathering those plexs now.
But in reality Jovians are more a lore/storyline thing that some have forgotten about. Introducing them into the game or their ships would be OP unless they dumb them down which would go against lore. Opening up their space on the other hand wouldn't be a bad idea, but then they would just have to create another pocket of space to chill out and run the AT in.

@ Brookes CCP have shown recently with the whole Incarna thing that they have no qualms about ignoring the lore of the game when it suits them. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - EVE: TESTING GROUNDS FOR WoD & DUST SINCE 2011 |

The bog-standard Polaris frigate isn't that impressive actually (apart from the 3 seconds shield recharge time, 99.9% resists, and the fact that you can't target it...). Even the most powerful variant only has 1 mid and 1 high. Besides which, it's a GM/Dev/BH ship, not a Jovian one.
The known Jovian ships are the Spectre, the Wraith, the Visitant, the Phantom, and the Eidolon. They all have fairly impressive, if not mindblowing stats, but obviously nothing is known about the kind of modules they'd be using, or any other "special abilities". ---------------

we were messing about with these ships at fanfest, the Eidolon was fun, but the polaris was better.
We were playing it in 3d as well, it was awesome. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - EVE: TESTING GROUNDS FOR WoD & DUST SINCE 2011 |
