It would seem to be general consensus that the Moa is a superior fighting craft to the Thorax (thse 2 in turn seem to generally held as the best Cruiser Fighters)
I can't see why this is thought to be, as the turret count etc is better for the Thrax, as well as drone space?

The Thorax may have more turrets etc. but the power is way down to fit more than 3-4 good guns. As well as the fact that Hybreds are complete crap anyway.
As for drones the whole operation of drones is buggered so using drones in a PVP fight is pointless.
When the balancing and cr=ontrol is fixed I suspect that the Thorax will be one of the best cruisers, but right now its fairly useless.
These are just disgruntled Gall thoughts anyhow

What are the stats of the Thorax out of interest? I know the MOA stats, but not the Thorax.

"These 2 are thought to be the best"
LOL WHAT?
Ok, let's just say that so far I have not seen a member of m0o in a thorax or moa.
I'll refrain from commenting further to what is IMO the best fighting cruiser, it does depend on your own skill level partly anyways. Besides if everyone else is flying a thorax or a moa it makes it all much safer for me :p

j0rt flew a thorax... thats no secret ;)... but as for me, i think the moa is far superior... second best powercore(maller best), best sheild, and very good cap... 2 launchers... 4med & 4low.. very dynamic and very leathal.. thorax could have an advantage, if defending... but as attacker, i wont give it much credit.. far too weak powercore, and shield not the best, neither is cap..

The Thorax should have one of the best caps though, because we are supposed to use Hybreds that drain the cap if you have 3 or more going for any period, even with good skills.
I will be well pleased if Hybreds are better, they should be the best in the game, because of the requirements and cap usage, we will have to see

It depends on what your doing - for me Im a real drone fan so give me 8 heavy combat drones and a Thorax IM happy. I reckon this is the best setup for a "camped" situation.
However if your looking for a gunship I would say the Maller is better - that can fit 5 HBL with the right combination of skills and mods and has massive cap. CEO - |

Moa's have heavy shielding, but once their shields are gone they crumble like frigates.
Thorax is pretty and it looks nice. Those are the best two things about it.
Maller is mean and ugly.
Rupture is ugly and mean.

well this might change things ..
Thorax, Rupture got an "25" increase and the Vexor got an "50" increase in powercore.

depending on your skill, 8 heavy combat drones can do about 2500 damage a minute. that's comparable to 2-3 medium guns. this makes the thorax one of the best cruisers for fighting NPC pirates. they're stupid and don't know how to counter drones, so the pathetic drone management we're stuck with doesn't hurt too much.
as far as a 1v1 comparison goes, the moa probably wins out most of the time...but we'll have to see what CCP does to hybrid weapons and the drone interface. but who'd be stupid enough to risk thier cruiser in a 1v1 fight?

combat drones dont have a chance against smart boms so I think a maller (if he uses his free high slot for a smart bomb) would slay thorax any time.
And a MOA with torpedos would have no trouble killing that thorax too.
So it is my belive that maller and MOA are the best cruiser

Thorax is the pretty boy ship.
Moa is the "Charles Bronson" of cruisers. It looks like a dragon made out of oversized lego pieces.
In fact all the Caldari ships look ... wrong. And thats why I like em :)

The caldari ships look like normal space ships really, what you would expect us to be building in 500 years time. The gallente ships look like someone had an odd sense of humour when they were being designed, the thorax does look pretty good though.
The thorax is only good at mining, if you want a good mining vessel, buy a thorax, if you want to fight, buy a maller or a moa or a rupture. Main Everlasting Vendetta Veteran Member of the Stain Alliance |

If they fix or break or whatever... the ranges with the Hybrid charges I think the 25-25% increase to hybrid range of a MOA is really going to make a different.
Now.. a MOA Blackbird tag team is pretty dangerous. MOA for damage BB for EW.
I think Eve was designed for small unit combat not really one on one. You probably wont find any single ship that can totally own another ship of it's same class as each have their good and bad points.
On the other hand Eve was not designed for fleet engagements either. To darn much lag when you get to many ships in close proximity to each other to be any fun.
