1) Check that the "Full size" box is ticked on the movies tab of fraps. Other than that, there should be no reason why the actual quality of the video is reduced. Odds are it's recording at half the resoultion.
Just to clarify, is it the raw fraps that are bad quality? (i.e. when you run the avi files straight after recording them), or the final product (when you've exported it from windows movie maker.
2) I usually record at 30fps (thus locking it to the exact framerate that the video will be displayed at). If I want to do some time warp effects, which you can't really do in Windows movie maker anyway so it doesn't matter, I usually run it at 50-60fps.
3) As far as the z or w buffer goes, I have no idea. I've tried both out but can't see a big difference between the two. Usually one works better than the other depending on the game engine.
4)As far as WMM for creating videos goes, I tend to stear clear of it :/ though if you'd just wanting to straight output a fraps, the splitting into 11 fragments shouldn't matter, simply drag each after the other into the timeline.

I personally use Premiere. I'm pretty sure it can use mp4 files (itunes music files), however whether the itunes DRM stops you from importing them into premiere :(

How do you folks feel about Adobe Premier Elements vs Sony Vegas and whatever else is in that price range?

Vegas has more functionality than Elements, and is closer to Premiere Professional than Elements in this regard.

Is the learning curve very steep? I'm a little familiar with photoshop which is why i've been leaning toward Premiere Elements.

Guys, quick question. Is there any way to add any custom resolutions to EvE, to run in Windowed mode?
I want to record at 1280x768, but EvE only offers me 1280x800. Normally the way I'd go around this is by going to the Nvidia control panel and adding a custom resolution to Windows, which would make EvE put it as an option, but unfortunately Nvidia now only allows you to add resolutions that can work with your monitor (it forces you to test them first), and 1280x768 simply isn't allowed. ---------------------------- "Unshrink you?! Well that would require some sort of a REbigulator, which is a concept so ridiculous it makes me want to laugh out loud and chortle..." -Prof.Frink |

You used to be able to change of the the config files to do this. But I'm pretty sure now it's either classed as illegal to do, or it is impossible to change :(
However, anyone that knows how to create a custom resolution, I would also like to know. I'm tired of having to crop videos sometimes :p

Right, I fail. Apparently it's in the prefs.ini file. Edit the desktopHeight and desktopWidth values.
Should be completely withing EULA, if not, someone please say otherwise.
