Character : Sir Bixit
Ripped off our corp by offering to sell 2 lab slots. He posted the offer in the local channel.
We took him up on the offer.
The agreed price was 11 million.
So our CEO met him at the station he said the lab slots were at.
Our CEO sent him 5.5million upfront for the first slot, then he just blocked us.
I trust that the Corporation he is in dont want any responsibility for his actions and will act acordingly, and warn anybody not to deal with this person in the future.
5.5million.... a pathetic sum of money for a lifetime of shame.

And you fell for this why, when the forums are constantly filled with people screaming about scams for lab slots?
Scamming is as much a part of the game as mining or blowing people up.

If scamming is your thing then fine, name and shaming is mine.
So This post hopefully limits the possibility of the scammer doing it to others.
To some people 5 million is a lot, our corp makes that in 10 minutes, so its no major loss but to other people out there with limited resources, it can cripple them or set them back days, So if me posting this thread means that if the scammer trys it on with someone else and his victim has read this thread and tell him to stick it, then Im happy that Ive prevented someone else getting scammed.
It will also possibly alert the corp he/she works for or any future corps that there scum and could rip them off.
I hope plenty of other people post scammer character names or corp thief names here too so there reputation in game is crap and eventually all they will be able to do is give pirates head for money :)

Not my thing, but as everyone mentions, its a futile exercise chasing the matter, nearly all scammers are alts.

the fact that it could have been an alt was taken into consideration but this character wasnt a new one or only a few months old, as we check this before dealing with anybody. The fact that he is in a corporation thats an executor of an alliance made us believe that we were doing a legitimate transaction.
I can appriciate your advice and thank you for it, but the fact that so many people have read this thread and because news, any sort of news, spreads fairly quickly in eve, means its unlikely any of the people who read this thread are going to deal with this person again in any shape or form. They in turn may tell fellow corp members, and they may tell friends and so on.
Which means this post has served it purpose in alerting people, and hopefully preventing this character ripping someone else off.

Do some searching for lab slots..especially with the lab unrent bug you will find a lab slot, you may have to travel 10+ jump to get to it 1 way but still what's 10 or so jumps when ppl in 0.0 jump 50+ jumps on a daily basis for wars and such.
I personally took the time to search useing the map to show me what systems had stations with labs in them and found 1 in 1 day about 18 jumps from my home system. It's not as hard to find them as you think.

Was a trusted member of DMAP until he abused his position and ripped-off 250m isk (that we know of) from our corp sales.
Do not trust this guy.

Shaming alts isn't that effective, regardless of their age. Might be even better to refuse to do any deal requiring trust with apparent alts.
One good indication of altness are the fellow's standings towards NPC corporations/agents. Most serious chars do quite a bunch of missions eventually.

I would like to thank the ICA Alliance who personally dealt with our problem (Scammer Sir Bixit)
Sir Bixit was in a corporation who had membership to this respectful alliance.
The ICA Alliance has kindly refunded the amount we lost to Sir Bixit, and dealt with matters internally in their own way, which is not for me to discuss here.
I would like to express my thanks to the ICA and thanks to The Guru, and Pursche for personally dealing with this.
I would also like to thank all the people who posted on this site that said it was hopeless or near hopeless, and those who tried to make a mockery of the thread, because your posts helped advertise this post, and in turn alerted the right people.
So, I hope this offers hope to any victims of scams. Sure you gotta take all neccessary precautions before dealing with someone, but if you do, and still get scammed, then report it on the forum. The more people who know... well you know the rest.

This could have been worthwhile thread. I hope someone takes the initiative to make a Name N Shame webpage. Make the webpage and post the link and get it locked to avoid all the gunk that has gotten into this thread.
It's a shame so much energy is spent bickering over nothing.

i came over from SWG on recommendation from a jedi freind of mine, he even gave me 150mil to get started and hopefully recommend this game to a few of my guild mates (which are currently about 60 in number) I joined a small corp and was told i could invest 135mil into some scheme that would set not only me but the corp up for good. So like an idiot i handed over the cash. The next day the corp hanger was empty and Aphrodit3 was nowhere to be seen.
I am now considering cancelling my account as a 'thats life' reply just doesn't cut it in my opinion.
Be aware of these 2, although they are most likely alts please pod the both of them for me. I'm now down to 2mil, i'm not asking for sympathy or charity but just giving a warning.

After a few responses to my petition, i was told basically to **** off and deal with my problem;
me: this aphrodit3 char who has an alt by the name of hattori hanzo conned me out 135million isk, he/she joined the corp and convinced me and other's to part with money so it could be invested, he/she cleaned out our corp account and the money i gave him/her. can anything be done about this as i'm not the only one who has fallen for this person
Gusto: Hi. I'm sorry to hear of your loss but I'm afraid there is nothing we can do about this. If you give a player your ISK then you have no guarantee what he/she will do with the money. You only have the player's word for it and he can then decide not to keep his word. Scamming of this kind is allowed in EVE so I'm sorry to tell you that there is nothing we can do about this incident. I wish you a swift recovery from this unfortunate incident.

An excellent idea, and its something im currently developing now. Ill create a post on the relevant forum, and if anybody has any worthwile idea's or suggestions ill see if they can be implemented
