Buzzard, you can fit a scan launcher and a bare-bones setup with some difficulty but its the best one for the job. All the others have major CPU problems.

The Helios has no problems with this either, if your skills are good.
Kill the enemy, and break their toys. |

Cheeeeetah! Because of the speed. You'll need lvl 4 covert ops to fit anything else though. |

Cheetah, but you need serious skills to get the best use from it. If you want to go light on the skills, then the Buzzard is easily the best.
On the Cheetah: If you have Covert Ops 5, you can fit a Probe Launcher and Covert Ops cloak AND keep ALL your 3 low slots available for Speed modules. You will not fit much else.

Edited by: Mr Popov on 16/03/2005 06:51:00 I put all the mods I want on my buzzard. I have level 4 covert ops, but I will just online and offline the mods I need for the task at hand. Since I can choose whether I want the enemy to see me or not, I can decide when to online and offline mods.
Now if only CCP could fix the scan probes so they don't show up on the range scanner...

Good point, how often does the analyse counter get to zero and you find out that the target has seen your probes and done one!!
Grrrr

You can launch multiple probes from one launcher. You need 3 to do a scan.

cov ops 4 and you can fit on helios: probe launcher, mwd, cloak, need 2xcpu(t2 if i remember), nanofib (I located you buggar, move slower now plz so I can make the warp-in).
If the cheetah can fit all 3 utils and run faster, I'm switching to it!

so the debate is about the speed of the ships with fitting? If you had a new character with only learning skills trained what covert ops would benefit you after the LONGEST training? Its a whole new account im using it on so sp make no difference

also since I know you cant fit many probes in your cargo, can you have a bs friend carry drones and you get them from his as you run out scanning? Or can you carry enough for a few scans in a covert ops?

If a covert ops ship is seen then it should be dead. With this in mind I fit for speed, cloaked.
Typical situation: I see gate campers sitting at a 100km away from a gate, your buddies cant hit them as they are setup for close range. This is where a covert-ops can come into play. You fly next to them and your buddies warp to you and land on top of the enemy (via a planet or some other body).
Simple situation that happens all to often. Fitting that overdrive can make all the diference to getting there in time. With all this in mind (and still fitting a probe launcher) it has to be the Minmatar Cheetah.
Be lucky!

Quickly working out, i think you'll need 2 Co Processors on a cheetah to be able to fit a cloak and a probe launcher (assuming cov-ops lvl 4) and that won't leave much room for anythhing else. That being said, the cheetah would be my pick anyway for its speed, with an overdrive you should be gettig 475 m/s cloaked, a little faster if you use named.

Correct, which is why I learned Covert Ops to skill level 5. I have a Covert Ops cloak, 2 probe launchers (only one active, the ship lacks CPU for a second, the second launcher can still be used to store extra probes....), 3 overdrives in the low slots. Mid slots are the lowest on priority. I fit an afterburner and a cap charger, and leave 2 slots empty.
CLOAKED speed of a Covert Ops ship is a vital detail, thus the popularity of the Cheetah. Fitting a Probe launcher is also popular, and is possible with a Cheetah, but if you also max out cloaked speed, you will not be doing much else, but that still makes tha Cheetah the best Covert Ops ship IMO.

Helios
HIGH: Covert Ops Cloak Scan Probe Launcher
MIDS: Passive Targeter Ship Scanner Cargo Scanner Rock Scanner
LOWS: CPU's etc
works great and gets the job done. . . . "Come now, my child, if we were planning to harm you, do you think we'd be lurking here, beside the path, in the very darkest part of the forest?" -Kenneth Patchen "But Even So" |

I still find it funny when i report in an egg (or other very soft target) to my gangs and they ask me to take it out.
I have to remind people constantly that the only offensive weapon I have is "harsh language" (quote from Aliens).

Cheetah, because it has the fastest base speed and lowest CPU, so Covert Ops 5 is key. I go 560 kms in mine after gang skills, but I only have 2 speed mods in low because I fit a MWD II and need a MAP. |
