Imperial Republic of the North
I'm pleased to announce that the corporations controlling the Deklein region are consolidating under the name IRON (Imperial Republic of the North). We will continue to lay claim on the Deklein region, and will continue to work with our allies to maintain a strong military presence in Pure Blind.
The founding members of IRON are EXODUS and VentureCorp.
There is no intention of creating a formal in-game alliance at this time.

It is an Imperial because leadership is sovereign and supreme. It is a Republic because leadership is earned via actions and not granted by claim or words.

Could be the same as a constitutional monarchy, i.e. the emperor has only representative function and is regarded as head of the state without any real legislative, jurisdictive or executive power. Or the senate (or whatever elected body) has only an advisory role. Possibilies are limitless when mixing forms of governmernt... hehe... personally I am all in favour of the Malignocracy to be honest.

We did talk about this at one point. There's 4 or 5 ways the terms can fit together very well based on thier multiple definitions. Really, only one combination is remotely contradictory.
My favorite of all of those was: Suggestive of an empire (1 a (1) : a major political unit having a territory of great extent) <-> with a Republican form of government.
But, anyway, we just liked the name

Wrong. Most of the Roman Empire was conquered under the Republic, for one. For another, while we now regard the period of the 'Roman Republic' as coming to an end when Octavian was made Emperor and given the name Augustus, it is quite clear that Romans continued to regard it as a 'republic' of a kind for quite some time afterwards.
In particular, the power of the Senate and People (the other assemblies) was eroded over time and the Emperor as absolute ruler did not happen overnight.
So Rome, for quite some time, was certainly both an empire, imperial and a republic at the same time.
I too apologise for being pendantic but there is no contradiction whatsoever in being imperial and republican - it simply depends on the setup of the system.

Its not simply Exodus & Venture, we are just the two main bodys that are a part of IRON, for now, but im sure more will come along soon
