Fighting a reasonably well fit Cynabaal flown by a remotely competent in any kind of frigate isn't likely to end well. I'd probably go with a harpy though. |

When fighting cynabal, always assume you have to deal with following things:
A) medium neut
B) dual prop
C) flight of ecm drones
Hawk has no-cap guns and rockets kill drones more effectively than guns. Blaster harpy certainly kills cynabal faster than rockets but is more at risk with A & C. Of course sometimes you just run into some lol-fit with illusions of grandeur but those are a minority. |

You can kill a Cynabal with a Frigate only with very much luck.
- You have to land on him on 0 and get a scram before he gains range. Thats a really though issue and usually is just pure gambling.
- You have to deal with the neutralizer while keeping him in scram range, so a NOS is a must have. You still need to pray that your scram doesn't shutdown because cycle ends exectly at that moment where he as neutralized you and your NOS cycle is still running.
- You need to survive and kill his drones and avoid getting damage from his AC. So an afterburner and some tank are a must have too.
If you have mastered all these points, then you can finally take care and kill the cynabal. |

Cynas are pretty good at murdering frigs. If I was taking it down I'd probably bring friends.
Failing that a faction web rail daredevil would be your best bet I would think

Both ships are good in certain circumstances.
A Hawk has less cap to worry about, if you are running duel ASB fit it is going to be hard to manage tank, kill drones and keep under the guns all while managing the tackle since you will be getting neuted. It has much less buffer over all so actually catching the Cynabal might be the problem.
However it has capless weapons that can down drones pretty fast, it can consistently DPS the Cynabal however due to resists on the Cynabal you will be hitting a half decent resist with already medicore DPS.
The problem persists like this:
Rockets = best frig v frig weapon due to no tracking and capless, epic range. However due to over all low DPS vs larger targets it starts to feel really weak and not as hard hitting. This where blasters come in but also come with their problems.
Harpy has more cap to worry about, it needs cap to fire and hold tackle. You will find yourself smashing your guns and scram a lot just to keep them active.
Benefits being once you are under the guns you have less micro management to deal with in terms of tank presuming you are buffer fit.
You will however have substantially higher dps compared to a Hawk and you are hitting a hole in his resist with half your DPS.
Both ships fall into the same problematic area:
Both are relatively slow, slower than a Cynabal actually. Meaning unless you start @ 0 you are going to take a WHOLE lot of damage on the approach as an angled approach is just not an option. Howvever a sling is possible but you overshoot and get capped out at 7km, goodbye ship.
Both have quite decent sensor strenght, around 17 if I remember so ECM drones are not a MAJOR threat in theory but hey ho, :CCP: and there leet game design says differently in the real scenario.
tl;dr
High micro management , needs time to kill, better cap= Hawk
Less micro management, kill it faster, worse cap = Harpy

well it will be hard because he can neut you, and will most probably have ecm drones, and when they jam, he will be able to burn away enough so he can track you.
if its proper fitted and competent pilot, you will most probably fail with both.
tho i would try with ABharpy with vamp and asb, take out the drones, and get a good orbit and u will come out winning unless he gets reinforcements.
that way i have killed couple properly fitted canes with my harpy |

Fighting in Amarr FW v Minnies means you are fighting swarms of sfi's, ruptures and the odd cyna.
We use dual TD kiting condor's and hookbills to great effect. Caldari ships also have good sensor strength which helps with ecm drones.
Trick is to have the speed and agility to stay out at 15km+. Make ecm drones priority, if they drop warrior II then best to get out.
If u do get webbed switch to tracking scripts and stay in close.

This. Most cynabals fit a web and a medium neut. It MIGHT be possible if the frigate has skirmish links and the cynabal doesn't, but otherwise you'd be better off running away. |
