I just started flying my brand new Bustard today, and I've noticed quite a few weird things.
First of all, the base speed with my skill is set to 120 m/s, when it should be 124.10 m/s (level 4 Navigation and level 5 Caldari Industrial)
Second, even with the wastly increased capacitor capacity the Bustard has, when making a warp jump to a gate or a station it litteraly eats all the capacitor in one go. A 50 AU warp ate it all, while the Badger MKII would have no problem at all with that. Even though it has far inferior cap. I had to put 2xMed Cap IIs on the Bustard to make it able to do normal warps.
Thirdly, it turns like a snail. Not sure if it is supposed to, but I thought I should mention it.
My two first points are the most important ones, and I like to ask if anyone know if this is bugged at the moment?
Regards, Lilja

...hmm... maybe bug? or wrong calculations? I'm no mathmatician, but I would ask help in that matter 1st.

tried more than once? if that is recurrend then it is a bug.

Well, DS transport ships are big, slow, fat and armoured caskets... think it's intended... -------------------

Yeah, I've tried it for maybe 50+ warps this day doing hauling missions and it always eats heaps of Cap.

No idea about the other stuff, but base speed of 80m/s means final speed of:
80 * 1.25 * 1.2 = 120m/s
(seems like you're doing 80 * (1.05^9) = 124.11, that's not the correct calculation though ;))
Someone really needs to keep me away from the Taranis |

Ahh, maybe I've misunderstood that one though. I thought you added 5% for each level each time.
Still bugs me about the Cap though.

Edited by: Dust Puppy on 18/03/2005 19:49:29 About the warping and the capacitor then all ships have some multiplier which tells how far you get per capicitor unit. Might be that this number is just really low for the Bustard. Actually know that I think about it then I'm not totally sure if it works that way but it would make sense so minmatar wouldn't always warp shorter than Amarr for example.
About the agility then there is also some agility constant. The agility itself is then related to that constant and the mass of the ship. There is a thread about those calculations floating about somewhere here but I'm not really sure where.
Might want to check those two points and compare them with other ships for example.
Edit: Might just have been the warp speed multiplier I was thinking about though. __________ Capacitor research |

All the Transports have a hobbled warp range: one of many things on them that needs looking at. Easily the most poorly designed ship class released so far: just not as noticably useless as the Logistics ships.
Btw, Lilja, did you or someone you know get a Bustard BPO, or have you always dreamed of flying a Caldari T2 indy?

Edited by: Naal Morno on 19/03/2005 01:01:42 Having flown Occator for 5 mins, here are my observations, amplified by flying Viotar for 2 weeks now:
- terrible agility - terribly high warp cost - terrible warp speed (9AU/s viotar, 3AU/s Occator) - huge mass (MWD doesn't pull even nearly as well) - AWESOME armor - AWESOME cargo space in respect to one above
Overall: well balanced ship IMHO Your Heavy Neutron Blaster II perfectly strikes Serpentis Chief Sentinel, wrecking for 660.4 damage.

Heh, the worst part about the Bustard is it's around 5k m3 away from being even competitive. :)

Yep.
Even if you are a fanboy who thinks these ships were perfectly designed, there's still the issue of their balance with one another.

Assault Frigates are also extremely heavy on the capacitor jump usage. I know the Wolf jumps about 1/2 to 1/3 as far as a Tech I frigate with compairable cap. It makes me wonder if jumps are somehow based on ship mass.
As for the MWD speed of Deep Space Transports, it is rather understandable, considering that DSTs can all mount a 10MN MWD and a full bank of nanofibers/overdrives. Blockade runners are much lighter, and should be handier with the MWD.

I thought that. Until we had a gate camp set up with 20 or so ships, and some guy using our space to do a trade run comes along. He knows he can't warp away, so he books it to the stargate in his viator (the faster one). He makes it, in hull, and jumps through. We all have aggression, so we couldn't chase him.
That incident, however, changed my opinion of the ship.
But the occator is worthless for the price, imo.
