Anyone got any UK broadband providers that do not restrict bandwidth. BT are introducing limits which basically means, you can't play online games on BT.

Well, I work for them, so I'm biased, but it is a very good service. Recently had a meeting with our CEO and we are planning on upping the bandwidth again soon as well...

This week's Web User magazine has an article on broadband providers covering pretty much the works from connection speed and price and download caps.
That said - the cap for the 2Mb connection on BT is 15GB; I'm not sure how much data I download in the course of a month's playing but I'd be surprised if it was getting that high.
There are one or two ISP's still that'll offer unlimited downloads though

I'm currently in the process of signing up with Bulldog Broadband
I don't know how good they are, but 4MB for ú30/month + calls (incl) is a damn fine deal.

Thanks to all that have posted. Will have a look at that mag.
I work for a leading UK telecoms company and I know blueyonder is pretty good unfortunately they do not cover Ealing London. Moving to Reading hopefully so that may change. I know when I worked for Marconi that Telewest were putting in a large capacity backbone which I assume blueyonder is now reaping the rewards from.
As far as the 15Gb goes I don't think its going to be enough. EVE is OK, even with 2 accounts and voice comms running. Try playing a FPS and the bandwidth goes through the roof. The BT site itself downloaded a fair few meg so I don't think 15Gb is going to cut it. In March they are adding a new service for 29.99 which has a 30Gb limit.
The daft thing is this. If I go to someone like AOL I pay them 29.99 for unlimited bandwidth and I'm still on the BT backbone network. So why stay with BT when all that changes is my bill and where my traffic goes once it hits the first server.

That's the really neat thing about Bulldog, they access the the Local Loop directly, bypassing BT altogether, so no line rental and the ú30/m includes the vat, with no d/l limit. I suspect all of the other isp mentioned here still go via BT.

http://broadband.nildram.net/ Nildram Broadband 2 ú25.99 A month for a 2mb connection with a 50GB/month limit. If you go over the limit you pay a smallish rate per GB after that. I generally don't. Last month was 20Gb for example.

freedom 2 surf,
They do a wires only deal. it's a little expensive but no cap, no blocked ports and it just runs and runs and runs.
I haven't had a days downtime in over a year. www.f2s.com
There is a unofficial support forum at www.freedom2support.com pop alomg and take a look. Also google for adslguideuk for a site that lists and reviews all uk providers.
Say hi to reading for me, I was brought up around the place.

AOL are fine, so I heard, although I also heard they monitor people's downloads. Have heard second hand tales of people receiving emails from AOL warning them that some of the large files they'd been downloading may seemed to have been covered by copyright. So I guess it might depend on how you use your internet connection, whether AOL is a good service provider or not.

It may seem silly of me to plug AOL as their dial up services are horrendous, but i've found that their Platinum broadband (ADSL) service kicks arse, no bandwith restrctions, and no download or upload caps, the only thing i do hate is their sign on software, but if you set yourself up right, you never have to look at their browser, and have a solid, fast as hell conenction.

I don't understand people who sign up for AOL, either they just don't care or they just don't know how much AOL software sux. It's not the service, I've never used them, it's the software. I've known AOL software to break PC's when friends have attempted to uninstall it, it's a bugger to remove without formatting. If an AOL disc drops on your doormat just bin it, it'll be the best thing you could do for your PC.

I got around that by simply plugging the aol connection info (VPI/encapsulation etc) into windows "network connection" software, to create a connection there and then i downloaded the drivers for my modem from the manufacturer, that way, i'm using my aol/bt line, with unlimited bandwith, and no download cap, but i never ever ever have to even look at aol software, which is nice.
It works rather well...and i've never had a problem with it so far. the only thing i gotta do to access ISP e-mail and stuff like that is log in at www.aol.co.uk, that's the only piece of aol i actually see in the whole affair.
I've checked with aol that i'm ok actually connecting this way without using their software, and they've said i'm ok as long as i pay my subscription to the service, they simply don't give me customer support, which is fine, cos their support service is a pile of crap anyways

I asked AOL about the software because I don't all the bells and whistles crap.
Apparently because I'm already with BT it just migrates I don't have to do anything. So I may just sign up with them. Although I would've thought the VPI/VCI changes to ensure it gets on the AOL backbones and not BTs. One good thing if I do go with AOL I can threaten to pull some 10G backbone links unless they fix my CCT.

Ive got a pay as you go 2mb connection from plusnet. ú14.99 a month including 1gb download, then an extra ú1.50 per prepay gb or ú1.75 per non prepay gb per month.
I play online games alot, but dont do a great ammount of downloading. Last month was my biggest usage month on BB ever at just under 5gb and my total monthly bill was ú21.74.
This compares to my previous plusnet 512 unlimited account where i payed ú21.99 every month. I personally get a better product for less money - so i am very happy.
Also i hear on the grapevine there are free upgrades on upto 8mb connections for existing customers from April in the pipeline as soon as BT exchanges are upgraded

I use http://www.utilitywarehouse.co.uk/store/internet.taf
Not a well know ISP but I thought I'd give them a try as at the time they had the best uncapped offer that I could get in my area. Plus it was no frills rubbish. Modem, line, and away you go with a few emails and web space thrown in, no annoying software.
Not had a single problem with them or DT since I had it installed over 3 months ago.
Just realised thou, when I got it, it was ú24 for 1Mb and that's what I pay but now for ú24, you get 2Mb. Guess I'll have to make a call to their customer service and ask if I can upgrade for free.
As for Bulldog, I had read and heard very bad things about their service at the time, not sure if they have sorted it out now but at the time, people were screaming or other to stay away.

Tahts good to know because I'm not big on downloading. I just play games so it may not as big an issue as I thought.

It is very unlikely that you will use 15gb in a month even if you play eve all day...
just remember if to turn your net off a night if your not using it atm i been connected @ 2mb for 10 hours and had eve running 7 of that and used 54mb soo it aint a problem i dont think..
BT are **** tho lol

I just signed up with nildram - don't bother signing up online just ring the salesl support people.
They said it'll take 5 working days to switch me over to their 512k service and, once I'm across, they'll regrade me to 2MBps within 10 working days. All of this costs me nothing but ú25.99 per month.
Considering I was paying Wanadoo 27.99 for 512k, I dunno why I haven't done it sooner!
