I remember when PI was first implemented and the planets resources where static, since I hear this is not the case anymore. Is it even wroth it to destroy your establishment and rebuild it somewhere else after the resources have been depleted? Do new resources just magically reappear somewhere else, or are the resources moving around because they are scared of my ecus? Any help with these questions would be appreciated, thanks. |

Resources will become depleted after a certain amount of extraction has occurred. They will regenerate with time, but if you are doing intensive extraction you will likely deplete your resources and eventually have to move the extractors. As far as moving your entire base you'll have to do the math on that to determine how much it'll cost and how long you'll be able to operate in the new area. Obviously if the move doesn't cover it's own costs and yield some profit its not worth it. |

Sometimes you really have to. On small planets you can often just send long routes out to distant hot spots but sometimes it just makes more sense to tear it all down and start over. Obviously you don't tear down your command center. The only really big expense will be the launch pad but you generally aren't moving stuff around enough for this to be too costly. |

i try not to tear it all down if i can help it... but i also don't run the most efficient system ever, I'll hook up my ECUs to a launchpad, typically requiring lvl 3 upgrades, then I'll run a line thru a launchpad which spider webs to the industry facility's, few industry facilities the lower the long route upgrade needs to be saving a lot of power grid. |

I'll have to try this one out.
Thanks for all your input. |

I try to set up my PI colonies so they need minimal management. I have found that if I set up colonies designed to manufacture P2 items, with 2 ECUs drawing 2 separate resources, I can set things up so the depletion eventually reaches a steady state and I don't have to move extractors any more. This seems inefficient at first, since you can't use the full 10 heads per ECU. But if I place an ECU with its full allotment of 10 heads, the depletion is so high that I have to eventually move the ECU or it isn't hardly drawing anything. I set the extractors on 80 hour cycles and reset them every 3 days without moving anything. The time saved from micromanaging extractors is in my opinion more usefully committed to other activities. |

So there is currently no way of knowing what the regeneration rate of resources in an area is set to. Knowing this information while setting up ECUs would be super handy. But I'll still try setting less heads and see If its not more stable like that, thanks. |
