First off i would like to say i don't speak the best english so forgive me
i have played games for 26 years now i seen the rise of sand box games and the rise of theme parks and general dumbing down of games as a hole to satisfy the casual gamer the lazy gamer in my opinion i was a swg player a pvp player and after the game closed i was lost but now am found
all these months i had looked at 100s of mmo games only to find repetitive garbage topped d of with max lvl in 1 mabie 2 months and a meta game that was non existent i even played EVONYage2 for 2 years to satisfy my hunger for domination over the masses but they changed that game to a coward's game with little loss and armies 1/3 the size of the power i once commanded over my armies because people complained a rtswar game was to hash
ive been looking for u EVE all these years waiting for u like a shadow in my mind and now i have found u and understand u i will play u till u die or i die because u are the last HARD CORE MMO LEFT because it will take me years to get what i want not months or days because u promote a hungry bastard like me to want more to take more because u are a galaxy of people all in one place
I HAVE COME TO EVE, I USE A DIFFERENT NAME TO HIDE MY PAST I WILL BE YOUR LEADER ONE DAY I WILL BE YOUR FOE THE NEXT REMEMBER MY NAME FOR I WILL REMEMBER YOURS AND PRAISE THIS GAME ITS THE LAST OF ITS KIND A TRUE HARD CORE MMO

Does a hardcore MMO need a minimum number of players to be considered?
if not, I'd like to point out that EVE looks like Hello Kitty Online when compared to Darkfall. I'm a NPC corp alt, any argument I make is invalid. |

no players do not affect my view of a good mmo i played swg it had less then this and was a hard core game for the first few years any way but always had mad pvp and ownership battles

Darkfall, despite being in a rather tattered state due to developer mismanagement is actually even less forgiving than Eve. It's so hardcore and cut-throat it's actually self destructive in terms of it's design.
Answers to your questions....
Mortucus Taylor wrote: do u have 19 years of skills to learn in dark fall?
It's only 19 years due to hard-coded time based limitations. It wouldn't take 19 years if you allowed players to "grind" out skills like Darkfall chose to do. I'd put DF's skillset equivalent to a very early iteration of Eve, but given there are no time factors you can learn them a lot quicker.
Mortucus Taylor wrote:when u get killed do u lose all ya gear and ya enemies can pillage your rotten corpse
Yes, worse so than in Eve. In Eve if you lose a fight your ship gets blown up and your enemies might get a bit of loot. In Darkfall when you're killed, ALL your equipment/items/whatever you're carrying is dropped. Not only does your death make you weaker, it makes your enemies that much stronger. In a world of limited rare resources, this can lead to a spiralling claim on high quality equipment that can't be replaced readily or easily, quickly ending wars if a battle goes wrong.
Mortucus Taylor wrote:can u travel in a galaxy that has close to 5000 stars plus more
Of course not, it's a fantasy setting. It has hundreds of towns, cities and villages though. And giant oceans with giant battleships too. And Krakens.
Mortucus Taylor wrote:can u own multi systems wile not grieving the pve folks to get your kicks killing people or do u just run war zones
What's this PvE you speak of? War Zones? This one question alone tells me you've actually never looked at Darkfall and are assuming it's just another fantasy WoW-clone. It's an open world sandbox MMO. There are no warzones, or battlegrounds. There's as much PvE as there is in Eve; ie **** all, a token effort by developers at best.
While Eve has staged levels of security with high-sec, low-sec and null-sec offering varying levels of safety and gaming experience, Darkfall just has... the world. You can be killed anywhere, doing anything, by anyone. Like I said, it's so hardcore it's actually self-destructive and counter intuitive because it destroys the "food chain" of PvP.
Another side effect of the game being so savage is that there's almost no player economy. Guilds/alliances will have internal manufacturers that can safely harvest resources within the walls of player cities (I say safely, there's no true safety in DF). There's almost no item creation or player markets on a general level though, because noone can gather anything without being torn asunder.
Combine these factors and this is why I play Eve, not Darkfall. |

Pffft. Eve is not hardcore when you account for all the possibilities/options.
If you want to play Eve on hardcore then you have to consistently choose a non FoTM hull, treat everyone honourably, never lie/cheat/steal etc.
Beauty of Eve is that "hardcore" is optional, doubt many people play that side of the game though .. too much like work if you ask me. |

Nowhere in my post did it state that skill grinding is hardcore. It was merely a statement regarding the difference in skill implementation. |

I used to play Gemstone on GEnie network.

I had a Commodore 64 when I was a kid but my parents were too cheap to buy the tape drive for the longest time. I used to write my own cheesy games but being the cheapos my parents were they didn't allow me to leave the computer on.

Good luck to you. May your enemies fear you. I once flew with a guy in corp who would scare 10-15 man gangs away in an Assault Frig. They would see him and literally **** their pants and **** off. Even after three or more years of playing I am no where near that good, but one day... one day... |

You can get the same effect if you fly a Kestrel named "Hotdrop0clock" on a character named CynoAlt2. |

Welcome to EVE online, a few bits of advise for you to ignore. Core skills, get them imho without core skills you cannot use your ships, jut fly them. *if you have to ask the differance, you will lose ships* You have time to learn each ship, use that time, the big ships look shiny and kewl, but guess what? Without core skills they are going to blow up on you, so I repeat get your core skills!!
Do not trust any deal that seems to good, because it is to good!! Even if your mother played the game, I would say trust no one!! That really nice snake chamer wants your ISK and they have gotten good at getting it from you. You have not lived until you have been Wated by Jim!!-á-á |
