Well If i have on a ship a shield booster and an armor repairer i run armor repairer when shield is dead, but is it worth still running the shield booster or is it consumming capacitor for little interest?

Don't put a shield booster and armor repairer on the same ship. You should either go for all out shield tank or all out armor tank. Dividing your slots between shield and armor tank just makes mediocre shield and armor tank. __________ Capacitor research |

Edited by: Zothike on 22/03/2005 15:03:22 Then does shield tanking an apoc is complete stupidity, coz it's seems to be much cheaper to shield tank than armor tank (cheap t2 shield booster / shield extanders) very expansive named armor repairer (no t2) and then using low slot for heat sink and other thingy

Apoc is much more well suited to armor tanking, because of the low slots it has for armor hardeners. I don't recommend suggesting on the forums that you will shield tank it. People might... well... laugh at you and call you names ---

Funny I recall an PvP fight between two ravens (in this example) where the raven that won had both a shield and armor tank The most experianced PvP pilot lost because this is such a rare sight that he just didn't see it comming.
Even though most people are going to say don't do it if you can get it to work it will do surprizingly well in PvP.
For a general setup though I would say if your shield is down and you are fixing armor don't boost shield again unless you have full cap and armor is going down very slowly.
A good setup might be (never tested this) to go for a very good kenetic/explosive shield setup (little needed for that, and make the armor strong against EM and heat. That way if your shield goes down fast you don't have to worry as your armor will be very hard to kill.
Mess about with it against a corp mate you will soon see that there is no one way to go a unique setup will make people in PvP go and then they just have a pod.
For PvE go for the strongest tank you can build (ammar = armor tank, caldari = shield, others well what ever you can get to work best)

The surprise lays in the fact that you can tank 2 types of dmg.
For example if you fight against lasers a shield tank is not that usefull, on the other hand fighting against projectiles an armor tank could have serious problems.
This is just a random thought on a fully tanked apo. If it can be fitted or if its usefull is not my concern, that for other people who want this figured out.
High: What ever weapon floats your boot. Might wanna consider a leech or four.
Med: L-shieldbooster II, EM hardner II, Invulnerability type hardner II, Large Shield extander II (could also be fitted for tanking only 2 types of damage namely explosive and kinetic)
Low: 2 larger armor repairers, 3 hardner (possible explosive and two adaptives or one thermal and one kinetic) 2 reinforced rolled tungsten 1600 modules. (can also be fitted to tank only EM and thermal)
With optimal skills I think the apo would look like this:
Shield: 6275 hp Defenses are EM 60%, EXP 72%, KIN 58%, THERM 44%
Armor: 10480 hp Defense are EM 70%, EXP 60%, KIN 45%, THERM 55%
Something like this. Its on top of my head I fly a shield tanked raven but I liked the brainstorm I had. =) Seriously Have I Not Said How I Can Assist Some One You Are Killing Online? |

The problem is cap recharge. If you fit for both shield and armour i'm sure you could get a reasonable looking tank for both, but there'd be no cap to run either.
A cap injector would be an answer, but if I was shield tanking I'd rather use lows for damage mods etc, and if I was armour tanking i'd rather use mids for EW etc. A cap injector still only gives a finite amount of cap, so whether you spend it on 1 or 2 types of tanking makes little difference to your win or loss. That is unless your tank is overcome which is much more likely to happen with 2 dodgy types of tank than 1 good.

and passive tanking? only shields extenders and/or armors plates, like that u dont have to bother about the capacitor? (perhaps an armor repairer at least to avoid you to be obliged to refit between 2 fight to repair)
