Hey,
If this has been asked a million times before please forgive me.
I had big idea's of using level 4 research agent's, but although i have the character standing, i can't get the corp standing up enough.
I've done missions for ages but the corp standing never goes up  , i understand that maybe some other people in my corp maybe doing missions which harm my standing's somewhat.
So what i'm asking is
Would i be better off in a one man corp so the standing's are all my own
or
Search for a corp that already has good standing's to the corp i want to do Research projects with.

you should be able to increase your corp standing by running missions for that corp.
you get adjustments for completing any missions for them as derived modifications for the agent of that corp giving you a bonus. They are smaller thant the agent standing increases.
storyline missions however increase you main race faction and your corp usually gives you a bigger corp standing bonus for completing a storyline under that corps name. it inturn earns brownie points for the corporation with their main bosses(faction governments)
if you are currently running missions for that corp that you want to do research with and not getting any corporate standing increase....... well you should be. something is not working on your char if it is not.
as your seeing, one needs the personal standing as well as the corporate standing for that corp to use research agents. Double requirement for them.

I believe you are confusing Standing with Corp, with Your corp's standing with the NPC Corp. When they say you need X.X Personel and X.X Corporate standing, these numbers reflect your personal standings, and have no relationship with the standings your corporation has with the agent/NPC corporation. AFAIK Your Corporation's standing has no effect at all (Though it should give you discounts on Factory & office rents "But doesn't").

Sorry if i havent worded it right,
You need a minimum effective corp standing of at least 4.65, in addition to an effective faction, corp or personal standing of at least 6.65 to use this agent.
So youre saying the first part doesnt mean my corp's standing to the npc corp??
So in effect i just need to get my standing with the npc corp to 6.65??
God i hope so ;)

Yes.
Sorry if I confused.
For example: Myself(not actual numbers)
Caldari standing: 9:40
Kaalakiota: 9.29
that allows me to run any agent under caldari faction but non R&D agents unless I have the corresponding required corporate standing as well.
My Kaala standing combined with my high main faction standing only allows me to use Kaala research agents and only Kaala research agents under all of caldari research agents.
Being I have access to all non R&D agents, all I need to do is relocate to any lvl 4 agent for the desired research agent corp and run normall missions till i get that required lvl corp standing for the desired lvl research agent. If you have access to lvl 4's then that would be fastest way there.
Your highest lvl highest quality agent is the fastest way to obtain the fastest results.
GM Abraxas was nice enough to give us this info if your into actual number crunching of it:
While Connections gives a boost to all NPC standings, remember that you can not get a Research agent through his personal standing alone. You also have to have a certain minimum standing with his corporation. That minimum is [(agent level-2)*2.0] + [(agent quality*5.0)/100.0].
