Now i know what they are, but i dont know anything else about them, how hard they are, how often they spawn, where the spawn. Never seen one before.
Just wanted to know if someone could give me a quick run down of info.

they spawn in belts on occasion, if you hunt for a full week you'll typically run into one or two per week if you are hunting in a good 0.0 system.
They also spawn in missions vary rarely, and in deaspace missions all the time.Except that in deadspace, they are toned down alot and dont drop the good loot as often.
In general, a commander drop will drop commander loot (dread gurista, true sansha etc.) about 50% of the time (meaning that commander drops average about a half commander module per spawn killed. Sometimes they drop more, often nothing.
I've sene quite a few commander spawn by now, tho I'm not impressed by their strength. They are more or less equally hard as the npc they are derived from, maybe some extra tanking or some extra damage, but nothing to worry about in my experience.
Officers are commander taken one step further. Much more rare (seen two in all the time they've been in the game), but always drop the good loot. At least a fwe faction modules and often several officer modified facton modules even. As for how hard they are, they are somewhat harder then regular belt NPC's, altho not mcuh either. No problem taking down an officer spawn alone tbh, contrary to what was said in the devblog that announced them.

What iskage is an officer and what iskage is a commander? I've killed up to a 6 million blood pope... do they get any higher?

Just follow me when I'm doing a solo mining run next time, as they seem to spawn right on top of me at least once a day!

a couple of corp mates and i killed a mizuro cybon worth 8.5mil!

I killed one in a 0.3 sector - took me way by surprise though and I tried to tank it whilst my 7 heavy drones took it out. I wasn't kitted up for fighting (I was mining) so I stayed and ended up paying the price for it, lost my arma. Dropped some cool dark blood items though which more than paid for the arma. But scared the crap outta me when a 500k BS spawned with 6 of his buddies for company in a 0.3 belt which usually has a 55k bounty rat as highest.

Officer loot goes for the hundreds of millions, ISK-wise. Faction loot slightly less, but still pretty uber.

Bounties for Officers top out at 10mil iirc.
Each faction has officers at 8.5, 9, 9.5 and 10 mil
If it moves kill it. If it doesn't move, kill it. It might move later. |
