Im gallente so i hear i should armor tank. My hull upgrades will soon be lv4 and my repair systems is lv4. Should i take em to lv 5?
And just how the hell do i armor tank anyways? Take into consideration i fly a catalyst, indy and soon a thorax / Tristan.
Do i need any other skills or hardware?

Edited by: Turiya Flesharrower on 24/03/2005 02:09:49 First you need to figure out what kind of tanking you'll be doing; armor or shield. Then you need to figure out what damage types your enemy will be dealing and then fit hardeners that will resist those damage types. Then you need a repairer or shield booster that will replenish your armor or shields faster than they can be damaged. Capacitor enhancing modules will allow you to properly maintain your tank for longer.

i think im to armor tank as im gallente, not shield tank(?), so can you give me a basic configuration for to use against all weapon types if it exists.

The generic tank is 4x Cap Recharger (Rare or Tech II if you can afford them), 2x Large Armor Repairer (again, Rare is better), Armor Kinetic Hardener, Armor Thermal hardener, Armor Explosive Hardener, 2x Capacitor Power Relay ... the generic tank is vurnable to gaking ships such as gankingeddon ...

It depends on the ship but some Gallente ships can shield tank very well. Which ever you go for its worth getting the cheap sub 1mill implants that effect shield and amour tanking. _________________________________________________ Gallente defensive innovation comes from unexpected source. |

dave, for armor tanking if you look at your base resistances on your armor you will notice they are: 60%EM 10%Explosive 35%thermal 35%kinetic
meaning your armor is most prone to explosive, thermal/kinetic then EM last.
So for example in your thorax you have 5 low slots. youd prolly like to use 3 hardeners. 1 explosive 1 thermal 1 kinetic a medium armor repair T2, and a cap power relay. for your mid slots u should prolly use a ,mwd, and 2 cap chargers. for your guns use what u like. Id recomend ion blasters. maybe even electrons.
whenever you are deciding what hardeners you want to use you ahve to think about what damadge type your enemy will be doing.
if your npcing, each npc does a certain type of dmg so you will want to harden for that dmg type.
also a nice tip would be if your npciing, the npc is also more prone to a c ertain dmg type, try and use the dron type that would do that kind of dmg.
every little bit helps.
tanking regular frigates isnt very common, try and use your speed as an advantage to prevent damadge from being delt to you. Also moving transversally against turret ships prevents them from getting hits on you.
as for catalyst, the have the smae hitpoints as a frigate, but slower. would eb difficult to tank a catalyst well because of the lack of power and cap.
anyhoo enjoy.

great odet, cheers.
Question. If im armor tanking im making the armor harder right? So could i use nanofibers to increase the speed of the thorax as my armor will be tougher? I know that the hull integrity is lowered but would this matter??
I would like to get close as possible to targets and let the heavy drones ripp!
your expert advice is apprecitated!
btw i see the mo0 corp name pop up loads on this site.. what is it?

dont bother using nanofibers on a combat ship. the hardeners make our armor stronger correct, fitting some modules will make ou weaker. ou can have our drones attack targets from quite far. ou just have to train up your drone skills. so you can for exampl have our drones attacking a target 40km away, while u take ur time to get to them(they will also be coming towards you), then blast the hell out fo them with your guns.
as for the m0o question, we are one of the oldest most infamous corps in eve. And yes were a pirate corporation
