I recently built a new PC:
i5 3570K Asus P8Z77-V Mobo 16 GB Ram
IGÇÖm now looking at getting a new graphics card, primarily for Eve, but other games also. The options are:
Radeon HD 7950 Nvidia GTX 660ti SC
The 7950 is an older card but has more raw grunt The 660ti is newer but seems to have memory bandwidth issues.
I would also be looking for one that will last the longest before having to be replaced.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I can only say my opinion on R7950 3Gb. Running on 3240x1920 (PPP eyefinity) All smooth, max details, stable and no problems so far. GÇ£If reality can destroy the dream, why shouldn't the dream destroy reality?GÇ¥ |

Not sure where you heard about the 660ti having memory bandwidth problems. Just looked at a couple reviews from trusted sites and they're singing its praises. "It's no use crying over spilt milk, because all the forces of the universe were bent on spilling it." ~William Maugham |

660Ti . youll be glad you did. Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings? |

Both are overkill for EVE. Both are in the same ballpark for performance, both can use 3 monitors (actually, the 660Ti can use 4, 3 in 3D accelerated mode and one extra "accessory" display), and both cost roughly the same for the 3GB of video RAM version (the 660Ti is a bit more expensive).
I'd much more likely pick a SLIGHTLY factory-overclocked 3GB 660 Ti personally, if I wanted to spend cash in that general ballpark. The main and probably best overall reason would be the power usage, around 150W for the 660Ti (vs the 200+W if the HD 7950). http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/User:Akita_T T2 BPO poll: https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=114789 Buying this: https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=147098 |

Actualy every 7000 series card can run 6 displays at once now, even the low ends (2 displays for every DP + HDMI+DVI). I think that for FullHD resolutions it doesnt matter which card he picks. Nvidia 600 series are finaly great competition againist R7000. But in case of multi monitor setups and high resolutions, R7950 wins (its because of 192 vs 384 bit memory bus). 650 would be fine for EVE, 660 for higher minimum frame rates, 670 for other games for the same reason.
even though a 650 can run other games no sweat, it's about smoothness.
EVGA now have open an offer for 180 day stepup program (used to be 90 days), meaning you can upgrade your card within 6 months from purchase to something faster/better.
I would link it, but forum rules etc...so do a web search, it's a sweet sweet sweet deal that'll hit the spot for you.
Personally I reckon 670 pre-clocked 2/4GB, purely because EVE ain't the only game you're playin'.
I had an sli'd 670 setup which ran EVE @ 583 fps, maxed, fyi...
