HALLO I am name Arimathras.. I haven't played the game a ton, but since the first day I got it, I haven't gotten much sleep.. My gaming sessions usually span from 10pm to.. 7 am.. *grin* Any other insomniacs out there? How do you stay awake? Any insomnia stories to share? I'll contribute ;P
Ok so me and my pal were just starting out this megacorporation *cough* so we decided to go mining. We almost even got ourselves a hauler to lug crap around but then we didn't. Pity. So, we slave away for a while, and my house is gettin' cold (wooden heatage for the win!) so I play from the comfy warm bed. Around 7 am, people starting to wake up around me and.. Irrelevant. So, I was getting really tired and put my head for just a wee moment on the nice pillow.. Ahh! But then I fall asleep and dream of being in school again. Garr.

Edited by: 3rdD Dave on 25/03/2005 01:21:22 you need to differentiate between keeping yourself awake to play a game and a disorder that our GP says you have. (what i suffer from )
I suffer from insomnia and its the type thats affecting my life. tho it helps when playing games but its not the same as keeping yourself awake or stimulating yourself to stay awake.
id give my right lung / kindey to sleep normally. it affects my life terribly.
If yo had REAL insomnia, trust me you wouldnt be **grining **

Aye I used to have real insomnia, its insane, I got prescribed tamazipan, as non-prescription sleeping pills didn't work, and then the sodding tamazipan didn't work either.
Wasn't fun. -----------------

With insomnia staying awake isn't the issue, falling asleep is. Watching informercials and reading manuals is the best I could come up with, that and hard manual work.

Your body's least active periods start at 9pm and end at about 11:30 pm, and YES, 11:30-2am is your active period, basically if you dont fall asleep before 11:30 then you might as well work until 2am, because lying in bed and trying to fall asleep to me is like a torture (ever try to just sit in one place for 2-3 hours and do NOTHING AT ALL, not drink, eat, read a paper, just sit with your eyes closed? well, this is just about as bad) I've tried this before, you know, going to bed at 10pm. I fall asleep fast, but then again, i never get the things done that usually get done during nighttime
Try not to screw with your body during puberty, cuz later on its gonna screw with you. _______________________________________________

Okay so it isn't "real" insomnia, but.. Yeah. You could have contributed stories about your late-night adventures in the world of EVE. Please?

i usually go to sleep at 0500 and wake up at 1400, so when i wanna correct this (coz of uni), i just consume coffee, redbull, and other energy drinks and stay awake till like 21:00 and then i just touch bed and sleep like baby :)

I suffer from insomnia from time to time (not just with EVE heh) although not as bad as I once did, For me it was a side affect of years of stress that I ignored until I got a really interesting "manifestation/warning" that scared the crap outta me but thats another story lol.
I've been 5+ days without a wink once or twice and everything feels more like your watching a movie than walking around awake, once at work my new Boss walked around the corner and said hello at which I turned my head toward her and after a (long) pause jumped in the air/flinched and let out a semi girly noise
Then there are the little things you do like pouring the kettle into the coffee jar instead of the mug forgetting things randomly and trailing off while talking to someone, never mind the effect it has on your coordination overall.
Nowadays if I cant sleep/don't get enough its because of my coffee addiction and EVE or whatever but if anyone is really having issues sleeping longterm try to get to the cause and do something about it, go to a doc or whatever, don't just leave it like I did as insomnia can be the first red flag/warning somethings wrong and you dont know or want to see what comes next.
(I never did say thanks to CCP and the EVE community for keeping me occupied through some really crap times in RL so thanks to all, Escapism isn't always a bad thing).
