Just my two cents but I would like to suggest a couple of things that could improve this game a bit. I have only been playing for a short time but I feel that this game is great and is built on a great system. I would like to see however a few things altered in order to balance things out. I relize that alot of these topics have been beaten to death but anyways this is just what I would like to see.
1) I would like to see more access points to 0.0 space. As it is now it is too easy for a group of people to completely restrict access to 0.0. (I think that I read a rumor that this is going to happen is so good deal but I will believe it when I see it). I think with more access this will get people to quit whining about the gank squads. If you see a gank squad go around.
2) I think that insta-jumps need to be removed. Traveling should take time. Being about to go from one side of the world to the other in little time is just not right. This is killing the economy is some regions.
3) POS need to be more self supportive. Ie. They need to be able to refine and have factories. This will start attracting more people to 0.0 (0.0 subsequently would be a little more attractive as well with number 1). And if Instas are removed this would help build an economy in 0.0. So people don't have to rely heavily on empire space.
4) Declaring war in empire should be more expensive. Its kind of messed up that a 200 man corp with tons of resources can declare war on a little corp at the same cost. I would love to see a multiplier that is based off of the sum of all corp members skill points. Thus the (cost to declare war) = ((Your corp combined skill points)/(Target corp combined skill points))*(Base cost) + (minimum cost). This way there is a minimum cost and if a large corp wants to wail on a small one then it will cost more than if they picked a fight with a corp of similar size and experience level. I know that people are going to complain because mining corps are going to have as many skills points as PVP corps and it wouldn't be fair but a mining corp should still be able to afford to buy mercs because the money a character is capable of should tie close to the characters skill points.
5) I would enjoy seeing the sec status hit that you take when killing another player increase similar to the equation in 4. This way if a 2mil skill point player decides to kill a 0.1 mil skill player it would have 20 times the affect on his sec status than if he killed someone at his same level. I think this would encourage PVPer to kill other PVPers. And not just sit at a high traffic gate and gank what ever newbie they want. (if you enjoy doing this you are the same person that enjoys getting god codes to games so you can never lose. There needs to be a challege in things otherwise they just become stupid and easy).
6) Level 4 missions only need to be in low sec space. There needs to be some work done on the risk vs. reward scale. I am not a fan of missions just because if I wanted to do the same thing over and over again I would go play WoW. Agent missions just add the same grind that is in every other MMORPG. But this is why I don't do them.
I don't intend this to be a means to kill PVP. I think that PVP plays an important role in our economy. With out PVP there would be less lost ships so no market for replacement ships and modules. I just think that we need to push this game away from Gank squads and paper rock RAVEN. Combat should be something that is challenging to both the attacker and defender and not just 13 year olds that are going around killing as many unexperienced players as possible (there is no challenge in this and its stupid and pointless). This is also an mmorpg people should have to work together to do high level stuff this game wasn't intended to be played alone.
Well let the flaming begin.

Edited by: hitech redneck on 25/03/2005 19:27:41 I like all the ideals but the one removing instas. some of us have a rl with a job and don't care to sit and watch thier screen for a hour or more just to travel from point a to point b. As it is now i only have a hour or so to play a night. For me killing bm's would be reason me to leave eve as much as i enjoy what play time i do have.

I wish I could remember who to credit this to, but simply use the following search string in google....
site:eve-online.com your search terms here
..this narrows google's search to the top level url. Works for just about any forums that don't need a login to read. In fact, since I found this, I've used it like, a gazillion times for refining just about any kind of googling ;)
