I am curious to find out if there are any successful entrepreneurs (real life of course) floating around in Eve Land. If so, what is your business?

i have my own small marketing company. currently working with 7 people in my team.
i started with this company 1 year ago and its slowely but surely growing. the main thing we do is go from door to door and represent another electricity producer to people where they can save money according to the main electricity producer. i'm also about to get us in the telephone bizznizz.

Nice. I actually do not own a business myself, but I definately have the drive to do so. I half owned one business that cost me more than I would like to remember before it went belly up. I'll chalk it up as one down. I am current;y working on my second business which I will go alone since my last experience with a partner was an absolute nightmare.

I attempted to start a business doing computer & network support and maintenance, i invested ú5,000 of my own cash but ended up blowing it on red tape, bills and meetings that came to nothing.
Small Business Gateway (a company in the UK that funds small businesses) gave me a whole 100 pounds to help get me started (yeah, that bought a couple of hundred flyers, big wow)
If it wasn't for the red tape, it would have been successfull, but because i was doing everything by the book, it had no chance of suceeding. Now i work for myself in my spare time doing computer repairs, people only hear about me from other customers or friends spreading the word, so it's not enough to make a living.

I don't have my own business, but my dad started a few of his own; more specifically, a pilot supply store and an internet service provider. The ISP was started because the flight store needed a website, but most companies wanted to charge more than it was worth. A few people have already told some of the best advice. Mainly, be careful if you are starting a business with a partner. The person my dad started his flight store with is currently on the FBI's catch-on-sight list for bank fraud (that includes stealing from my dad's business). Also, have friends who can help you along the way. One of the biggest reasons my dad has kept his flight store profitable for about 5 years is that he is great friends with the people in charge of several airports, and they direct many clients to him. Plus, my dad is an expert in the field, which is quite an advantage over the competitors. Also, try to find a good accountant who can help you save money. Many people don't realize how important that is.

The best way to run a succesful business is actually "contacts". Without it you're screwed.
