Dear CONCORD,
in order to regain my security rating and becoming a good citizen again I tried to destroy some of your enemies from the Blood Raiders corporation.
Sadly you attacked me with your sentry guns in a 0.3 security rating system as soon as I opened fire on the enemy vessels.
Luckily I was well equipped and survived your attack. Nevertheless, I have suffered from a trauma and I need to visit my psychologist as soon as possible.
Hence I am asking you for permission to seek him, he is in a solar system with 1.0 security rating. I also ask you to pay the bill of the checkup and the following therapy.
I have enclosed a virtual proof of your doings (http://eve.screaming-fist.org/2003.07.04.10.16.54.bmp).
Best regards, Molly. ---

Interesting....but for the love of God don't post .bmps!!!!!!!
The "intermittent" Concord response and unprovoked attacks are well-known - we can only hope that it will be fixed in a future patch... ------------------------ "The direct use of force is such a poor solution to any problem, it is generally employed only by small children and large nations." ------------------------ |

Wassup with you pansy modem users, can't you upgrade to a real connection like DSL ?
Damn "connection carebears", why do I have to suffer image quality deterioration from compression because you wanna surf all day on your "bit of string" connection.
I'll can download multiple BMPs without even blinking.

That's why I provide two formats for now :-). ---

Hello Molly.
I noticed from the snapshot you included that the incident took place in the Oyonata system, which is currently controlled by the Blood Raider Covenant.
Although I am not absolutely sure of this, I believe that the Sentry Guns do indeed belong to the local sovereign power, not CONCORD or any of it's departments.
Please correct me if I am mistaken, but otherwise I believe the sentry gun attack - from their perspective - was well justified.

Had the same thing happen to me Molly...
I was flying back with my Corp-mated Damaged Moa (sentry guns in a .1 system opened up on him for no reason, so I went to retrieve the ship) and ran into several Blood Collectors that were camping around a .3 system gate. One targeted me...I waited for tone and opened up (not with Missiles, I'm not that dense to use area effect weapons around a gate). The second after the first shot lands, I get hit for ~600 Damage (dropped me down to 40% shields).
I jumped right after so I didn't see the source, but I assume the sentry guns picked me as the agressor and decided to take a chunk out of my hide. But some say that the Sentry guns in <.5 space are a figment of my PC's imagination, but if that's the case then my PC's imagination really hurts... ------------------------------------- Interm-CEO for EVE Marshals http://www.EVEMarshals.com |

I think Bajastor is correct - a regions sentry guns are controlled by the sovereign power in that region, so not Concord, but Blood raiders.
If that is true, the attack of the sentries was justified.

From patch notes
* Sentry guns around stargates now attack people within range who lose or recently lost standing from the corporation that owns them or the faction that owns the solarsystem.
So yes, attacking the members of a faction will invoke attacks from sentry guns of the same faction.

This information, in conjunction with the evidence provided, makes little sence to me. It may just be my limited Brutor thinking, but if they were "Blood (whatever)" sentry guns, then why are they clearly labeled "Gallente Sentry Gun" both in her threat box and in the damage update?

Does this mean I'm stuck in Stain space and am going to get pasted if I try and make it too a jumpgate as my standing with the local pirate faction is like -10 ?
If thats the case then are were not going to see an aweful lot of "trapped" players?.... ------------------------ "The direct use of force is such a poor solution to any problem, it is generally employed only by small children and large nations." ------------------------ |

Dear Mr. Hawke.
The message is simply stating the manufacturer, class or brand - if you will, of the sentry guns in question. Not the owner.
These sentry guns are Gallente produced, although they have now fallen into the hands of The Blood Raiders.

Heh, you didn't want to listen last night when I said that we weren't handing out hunting licenses after the patch ;D
But, you are in luck my friend. Stain is all 0.0 and therefore does not have sentry guns at gates.

That's fine if the Blood own the guns...just give me a way to know who the owner is. They said Gallente when I arived (I did check due to the first damage incident). ------------------------------------- Interm-CEO for EVE Marshals http://www.EVEMarshals.com |

The Caldary Navy may be a part of the shameful Caldari seperatist state, but they are professionals nevertheless. They do not intentionally fire upon escape pods.

The patch notes refer to "recently lost standing", I assume there is some timeout before they magically forget your past transgressions, I doubt it's going to be more than a day, maybe as short as 15 minutes.
They don't attack you because you have a low standing, they attack when you lose standing in front of them or as part of a recent action.
