Has anybody figured out a good setup for this ship yet, the 5/5/5 slots seem really versatile

Most successful setups is with Neutraliser, Nos combo with webs and distruptors. Just test the stuff yourself. I would recomend all pepole to make your own setups istead of listening to the crowd. Cuz there aint no such ting as the best setup.

Well, it is not that awesome when it comes to Powergrid and CPU, but then again, it is perhaps the greatest Drone Carrier right now. You should focus on long range weapons. Drone warfare (in my opinion) is to unleash fast drones on a distant target and bonk his ass with railguns and such, always out of harms way while still doing damage. The Ishtar is based on the Vexor, and I can say that the Vexor is not a ship you dive into action with, but rather snipe with.
Drones are generally fast enough to avoid and damage smaller ships, so your mounted arsenal should be designed to take down bigger ships, to assist your drones once they run into armor. Something I've noticed while in my Vexor is that it is a magnet for missiles and the alike. Over distance, your best bet is to outrun the missiles. Equipping the ship for speed is something I do in all cases, but since you won't/should not be engaging in close combat very much you shouldn't need to tank your ship all that much. Then again, Im just a newbie, don't take my word for it.

you can always tank the **** out of it and let the heavy drones do the talking, your average cruiser should be dead in 4-5 volleys of your heavy drones. and a gankegeddon aint gonna scratch you with 90% em and thermal resistance, couple of cap relay 2's and either a med cap battery 2 (with maxxed skills gives you about a 40% cap rech bonus, or a top line heavy cap booster ) you can pretty much tank forever at 75% cap running ab, cap regen and hardeners + guns. the bugger on the ishtar is the cpu. setup, say, 1 top armor rep , med gistii or whatever they're called and 3-4 hardeners + cap relay, then something like a top end med heavy cap batt or med t2, depending on how much you need for your guns, t2 ab, you can fill the rest up with what you like cap is always good since you don;t want to get withing 20 km's of a bship with nosses, cruisers and frigs shouldn;t be able to drain you below your regen threshold. then ploink some guns and nosses in the high slots, pref anti-frig since you;ll be using drones on the bigger targets, and you wont be getting close enough to get draiuned scrambler is always good unless going up against bships. only point is you are not getting inside a 20 km range of a bship with a nos on it, pretty much meaning anyone with a pvp setup and brains, so you'll need tacklers, if you wanna close in use a setup like the ones above, ahm no scrap that, get a deimos instead.

OMG that's so wrong! My Vexor can take a good beating before passing out and 45 km/s out isn't close to being long-range imo. Granted, Ishtar gets range bonus, making it more versatile than Vexor and perhaps a viable medium-range platform but I can't tell as I haven't the skills to fly it yet; Though what's sure is that Vexor is best used as a leech that's my take on it, a big fat leech that sticks to what it sees and hold on to it, relying on its drones to make damage... Really, long-range Vexors don't rate high in my book

Looks great, but not a hope in hell of fitting it with so little powergrid! Dual reps are nice, but expect to have a low-damage/cap-draining setup in the highs if you want to fit it (without an RCU of course).

I got a domi instead hold 30 heavy drones with no extra training big cpu and grid able to fit large weps. only thing you realy miss out on is the range bonus for the drones.
ps more slots, and less training time to get it. but if you already trained for it lol what like 2 month you got more patience them me.
How ever i would like to get one on the down the road having 30 heavy drones in cruiser just sounds fun

Ok i have come up with a variety of setups, from the outright ludicrous, to the omgwtfbbqingoverpoweredneedsanerf to a few decent setups. Bare with me here:
Nos: 3xe50 medium nos(dont use tech2, they use too much grid) 2xsmall frig guns (fit these last)
1xMWD 1xdisruptor 1xweb 2xnamed sensor damps
1xmedium rep II 1xsmall rep II 3x50% hardners (em, thermal + explosive)
Serious Dmg: 3xhvy ion IIs 2xe50 nos
1xmedium C5-l (yes im shield tanking it) 2xhardners 1xweb 1xMWD
4xPDUII 1xco pro
Can swop the blasters for rails and drop the MWD if you so chose. Nos setup is great, tanks real hard but ur relying on drones to deal the dmg. The good thing with ishtar is you dont need to worry about ceptors. 15 light drones will make either BBQ em or make em run off.
The blaster setup deals some seriously screwed up dmg with 15 hvy drones and still tanks extremely well (can run booster forever once u get into nos range, which u will do cos of the blasters). Gets good resistances with an em and thermal hardner. Cap recharge is nice cos of the rack of PDU IIS.
Best thing to do with this ship is just fit it for what u need at the time. I have fitted 1 with 3x7.5k scrams cos there was a ferox running around with 4 stabs fitted. Thats the good thing about this ship. It can do just about anything u want it to. NOS/EW/DMG/hvy tackle etc.

I use this setup for Gallente Federation Navy missions;
High: 3x Dual 150mm Railgun II 2x Medium Nosferatu
Medium: 1x 10MN Afterburner 1x Kinetic Shield Hardener 1x Thermal Shield Hardener 2x Cap Recharger I
Low: 1x Medium Armor Repairer I 1x Kinetic Armor Hardener 1x Thermic Armor Hardener 2x Capacitor Power Relay I
Works quite fine and you can almost passively shield tank level 3 missions :D

Agreed. Why have mediocre shield tanking and mediocre armour tanking when you can have good armour tanking.
PvE setup
Hi 2 Heavy ion II's 1 Heavy Neutron II 1 Named Medium Nos 1 small remote armour repair (for drones)
Mid 10MN AB II Named Web 3 named cap rechargers (if i had the spare grid i would put cap batteries here, but i need to drop down to electrons to do that effectively)
Lo 3 or 4 Energised Membrane II's (type depends on rats) 1 or 2 Small Armour repair II's (can also fit 1 med, 1 small if you drop to electron blasters)
Drones Mixed bag of heavy(10) and Mediums(20) ----------------------------------------- If it moves, shoot it. If it doesn't move, shoot it, it might move later. |
