Probably a thousand threads about this before, but I'm in a rush...
I have a lvl 2 agent at the moment, but want to get to lvl 3. How many LP do I need for this? What else, other than LP, do I need?

LP doesn't help get higher agents. What you need is standing. Check info on your agent to see what your standing with the corp is. Then do a corp search and look at their agents list to see if you can move up.

Check out the social skills to, is it diplomacy which really increase your standings?

Actually I thought it was Connections?
Connections reduces the number of missions you'll need to get your standing high enough for the next level agent.
Don't be too much in a rush to upgrade agents to the next higher level mission...sometimes the jump will be too difficult if you don't know what you're expecting.
You can do Level I and II agents with a frigate.
Level III with most cruisers.
Level IV really needs a BS or a pimped our cruiser.

If it's standing I'm after... I'm currently 2.86... So do I get to go up to lvl 3 soon?

get 2 level of connections, you should then be able to do lvl3 agents (~0.6-0.8 extra standing at your current)
I roleplay... there is this computer game called "Earth - The First Genesis" where i play a character in the early 21st century. |

connections increases standings with friendly factions/agents, diplomacy does the same with unfriendly (negative) factions/agents.

Yup,new it was one of em. 2.86 might be enuf for poor quality agents but one level of connections will boost that high enuf for most.
look at the corp info and hit the agents tab, that'll thell you what is available to you.
