WTF?! I got my Mackinaw raped by a Goon today in a 0.5 ice belt. He was in a Hurricane. 
In the 5 years of me playing this game, no one ever attempted to blow up my mining ship in empire space.. Heh, this is EVE, so there's a first time for everything! Serves me right for ASSUMING no one would bother with this stuff.
Looks like this guy has no life and does it just for kicks, because he barley got 10 mil from my destroyed ship if even that. Cant imagine how all the time spent prowling ore and ice belts, playing with EFT and creating a perfect fit was worth it just to destroy a Mackinaw. The guy wasted like 50 mil just to kill me! 
Anyway, I am trying to create a fit which can withstand an attack in 0.5 long enough for the concord to show up. So far I dont see any way to pull this off because I must use 2x Ice Harvester Upgrade IIs and that leaves me with no CPU for any sort of shield extenders or any other upgrades. Rigs are an option, but they dont seem to raise resistances very much.
Is there any solution here short of getting rid of IHUs?

Get rid of the Mackinaw for now. Whatever fit you use with it, you're going to lose it fast. Even if the gankers have to bring a couple of batleships for that, they will do it. And with cheap T1 metas and insurance, it will cost them a lot less to lose a couple BS, far less a couple of BC, than for you to lose a Mack.
Take a covetor, insure it, tank it as much as you can (damage control mandatory, shield extender, invul field, etc...). And above all else, don't lose your cool if you lose your ship, any angry reaction is for them an open invitation to gank you again.
Your IHU won't do you good if you lose your ship. Stop being greedy. |

Gankers aren't gods of foreknowledge with all seeing and all knowing abilities. They go with minimum to get the job done based upon what they've faced. If targets take multiple ships - then batches of them lose status in a hurry.
As such, a well tanked ship can survive them well enough and avoiding lower sec space can save you a lot of grief in the long term. It doesn't work well dumping sec status repeatedly while trying the same target and concord tends to sit in the last attempt location for a while.
Finding concord in a location makes it pretty safe from all but raw alpha kill abilities and tanking a ship makes that expensive and risky for the gankers.
This goons event will mess a little but, overall, I don't see them sticking to it well enough to make it anything major. They'll lose enough security status to end up unable to reach the targets - IF those targets tank up a bit and operate with some sensibility - the latter often seems in short supply by many industrialist types - 'but my profits!' ... zero when you keep losing untanked ships. |

You can do empire ganks with a -10.00 sec status.

This will stop a solo thorax or rupture gank, but a cane or brutix will blow right through that, a pair of cruisers can probably also blow through that.
All of the macks ive solo ganked had small extenders and ifields, didn't save em, and this was using a rupture, the mack is typically going pop about 5 seconds before concord shows up in .5 (so not enough time left to get the pod).
your best protection from the goon ganking campaign, move out of gallente space for the time being.

we're paying bonuses for each dead barge in gallente space, and super-tanked barges pay out significantly more than regular barges because the kill represents both extra effort and the crushing of those who try to resist us rather than just moving out of gallente space

That fit has about 21k EHP vs Antimatter (There's really quite a big difference between SSEs and MSEs). What kind of DPS are you getting out of those Brutixes? 700 DPS puts you right on the knife-edge for a single ship in a 0.5. If the miner has arranged gang bonuses, you'll need >800DPS.

21k is enough to take it into 'supertanked' territory where you need two brutixes to be sure
fortunately, supertanked ships get double bounty so it evens out |
