I play this game for a bit over a year now. I read the forums when I can to check upon news and such when I can.
However the flamming and trolling in abouy 99,99% of the postings makes it more of a joke then people talking to eachother or about eachother.
I know that emotions or feelings about a player, corporation or alliance can flame up. But by responding in the heat of the moment you loose a lot more then you gain.
It's allmost impossible to see any postings that are clear, to the point and objective from atleast one point of vieuw.
I know this topic allso will get a flamefest going since that's what a lot of people seemingly like best.
However it allso states clearly that people forget one thing.
IT'S A GAME.
If I would take a game as serious as some people do I wouldn't have a life next to EVE.
Yes there is more out there then EVE and some things out there are mature enough to have a discussion with arguements and facts. And even if people can't or won't see eye to eye we can atleast keep some lvl of descency in the forums.
So yes, he lied about something. Bring proof he was lied and confront him in a civilised way.
So yes you got scammed. Post it and make sure people know by posting it and how you got scammed.
So yes you got ganked. Learn from it and move on or learn how to get even or even make enough ISK and pay someone to get even for you.
And so on and so on.
Bottomline is that by stooping to low level remarks you don't make yourself look better. Only levels you off to their level.
Better to try and fail, then to fail due to not trying |

A good start about taking the game as a game is taking these forums as part of the ingame behaviour.
Forums = part of the game.
I don't take this game too seriously, nor do I take these forums too seriously. Try looking at the forums as extensions of ingame convo's. Everything from smacktalk to kind 1 on 1 talks make it here if you look well.

The forums are definitely an extension of the game but not one to be trusted. Even the kill boards are debated and until CCP has one ingame we are stuck with multiple boards and accusations of not posting losses. I agree that the board have been flame heavy for quite some time, but I don't see a way to stop it. Unfortunately political spin has been effective.
EDIT: I actually wanted to post a similar topic but decided not to because I knew it would get flamed

hi i'd like to HIJACK this for a sec to brign to the table that i nominate PA to be renamed pen1s alliance, why cause just look at em, running around with little purple heads chasing ceptors with hacs, its just funny mate, ohnoes you're 3 eagles perfectly strike for.... oh wait, you missed me again and again
