if my numbers are correct (and they useally are) the new Deep space hauller of the Amarr will have a 33K hold fully expanded (with 27% expanders) (7 low slots) (full skills)
the Gallente ones will only have about 27K (6 low slots) (full skills)
if I am not mistaken the Amarr also has the best armor of any Transport I have not checked the stats on the Minnie and the Caldari yet
we Gallante has always had the largest Industrials in Eve now the Amarr found a way to go from 4 low slots to 7 where the gallente only figured out how to go from 5 to 6
I would like us Gallente to have a extra low slot added to our DS transports based on this :-) (or better yet 2)
am I the only one that sees something wrong with this yeah I know fully expanding a DS transport in 0.0 will not happen however used in empire a transport will be able to move over 30K (without cans I might add) dont you think ppl will do that ??

You are correct, the Amarr, because of its 7 low slots, will have the largest cargo hold: Cargo Expanders Giant Faction Ship Name Lowslots Cargo 27.44% Containers Gallente Iteron 2 3,000 6,090 m3 7,890 m3 Minmatar Prowler 2 3,250 6,598 m3 8,398 m3 Minmatar Wreathe 2 3,300 6,699 m3 8,499 m3 Caldari Crane 2 3,500 7,105 m3 8,905 m3 Gallente Iteron-II 2 3,750 7,613 m3 9,413 m3 Gallente Viator 3 3,000 7,762 m3 9,562 m3 Amarr Prorator 4 2,500 8,243 m3 10,043 m3 Caldari Badger 2 4,125 8,374 m3 10,174 m3 Amarr Sigil 5 3,000 12,606 m3 16,206 m3 Gallente Iteron-III 3 4,875 12,613 m3 16,213 m3 Minmatar Hoarder 3 5,100 13,195 m3 16,795 m3 Gallente Iteron-IV 3 5,250 13,583 m3 17,183 m3 Caldari Badger-II 3 5,250 13,583 m3 17,183 m3 Amarr Bestower 4 4,800 15,826 m3 20,326 m3 Minmatar Mammoth 4 5,625 18,546 m3 23,946 m3 Minmatar Mastodon 5 5,250 22,060 m3 28,360 m3 Caldari Bustard 5 5,500 23,110 m3 29,410 m3 Gallente Iteron-V 5 6,000 25,211 m3 32,411 m3 Gallente Occator 6 5,000 26,774 m3 33,974 m3 Amarr Impel 7 4,000 27,297 m3 35,397 m3
Now here's a table to compare vs. the Iteron Mark V with 27.44% cargo expanders: Gallente Iteron Mark V Tech Faction Ship Name w/27.44% w/Containers 1 Gallente Iteron 24.2% 24.3% 2 Minmatar Prowler 26.2% 25.9% 1 Minmatar Wreathe 26.6% 26.2% 2 Caldari Crane 28.2% 27.5% 1 Gallente Iteron-II 30.2% 29.0% 2 Gallente Viator 30.8% 29.5% 2 Amarr Prorator 32.7% 31.0% 1 Caldari Badger 33.2% 31.4% 1 Amarr Sigil 50.0% 50.0% 1 Gallente Iteron-III 50.0% 50.0% 1 Minmatar Hoarder 52.3% 51.8% 1 Gallente Iteron-IV 53.9% 53.0% 1 Caldari Badger-II 53.9% 53.0% 1 Amarr Bestower 62.8% 62.7% 1 Minmatar Mammoth 73.6% 73.9% 2 Minmatar Mastodon 87.5% 87.5% 2 Caldari Bustard 91.7% 90.7% 1 Gallente Iteron-V vs. Gallente Iteron Mark V 2 Gallente Occator 106.2% 104.8% 2 Amarr Impel 108.3% 109.2%
The above assumes that you have maxed skills (Level V in the respective race's industrial skill).
The Amarr Impel, with 7 27.44% cargo expanders is 9.2% better than an equilally equiped Iteron Mark V (AND a WHOLE LOT less expensive).
But remember the reason for these Tech 2 Transports is not necessiarly their cargo space, but the fact that they are much tougher - look at their resistances and armor.
Granted they don't have the increase in cargo capacity, but really that's what Freighters when they come out later this year.

Edited by: Paw Sandberg on 30/03/2005 02:18:31 Freighter's will only be intersystem though (atleast last I heard)
you are right though that the primary reason for the Transports are their Armor but again there the Impell got our Occator beat :-(

Actually a Freighter, from all the information that I have been able to attain, can only have items added/removed from their cargo hold while docked in a station. That means you can't use them to pick up ORE in a jet can or loot.
Also it was suggested that Freighters have jump drives that would allow them to move from system to system.
But lets not derail the original poster's concerns.
May I also suggest the other types of Transport ships that have better speed and +2 Warp Core stabilizers? (The Blockcade runner version)

lol I am the original poster :-) you are right lets stay on topic though :-)
the Viator (blocade runner) I am getting me one of those very usefull ship :-)
only 3 low slots and a cruddy size hold I just hope that they are as good as I hope they are and can out tank damage extremely well (and actuelly run that 10 BS blocade using MWD)
Freighters wise if they do get the jump drive they will be extremely usefull :-) (I want)

you are missing the point the Occator will cost the samme as the Impel both ships will be (slightly) better than the Iteron 5 I dont have a problem with that however why is the Impel so vastly improved over a stover vs a Occator over a Iteron 5 (3 more low slots vs 1)
its not fair to compare the Iteron 5 and the Impel as the Impel will cost far more (thats like comparing a Ceptor with a tech I Frigate
it is however fair to compare the Impel and the Occator as they are both Transport's and both improvements on a design
why is the Impel so improved over a stower compared to a Occator over a Iteron 5 ??

First of all, freighters are not deep space transports.
Freighters are just a vague concept that isn't in the game yet. Freighters will be huge ships that can carry an amount equal to multiple industrial ships, but they can only pick up and drop off in stations. Once again, these are not released yet.
Deep space transports are the tech2 industrial ships. I'm getting kinda sick of people trying to compare them by seeing which one can fit the most if you shove an expander into every possible oriface on the ship. That's not what they're meant for. They're meant for surviving in hostile territories and transporting really expensive cargo. Loading a transport ship completely with expanders kills its speed and makes it useless. Ranking these ships by their ability to have the highest cargo space is like ranking battleships by their ability to passive shield tank.

what does the Deep space Transports have to do with the Freighter
when we where talking about the freighter that was off topic
Deep space transport ships meaning the Occator and the Impel are just that Transports of cause I am going to see how much a Transport will hold as that is what they are going to be used for TRANSPORTING THINGS IN 0.0 (and proberly empire as well)
I am not complaining about the Viator (note that) as that is a blocade runner however the new transport that is designed for Cargo will all of a sudden favor the Amarr where the old ones (tech I) Favored the Gallente
again the Viator (Blocade runner) is mant to survive attacks in 0.0 the deep space hauller is meant to be used to set up POS and for mining opps (being able to survive NPC attacks) all these things mean it needs a LARGE HOLD
Large hold means I will Jam as many expanders as I can on it and in that aspect the Amarr hauller is better than the Gallente Version (as well as the Amarr version having better Armor)
you are trying to say that I am comparing a hauller to a BS with a pasive tank in my opinion you are saying dont compare a Raven to the amount of siege launchers it can fit cause thats not what its suppose to be used for

I think it's ridiculous that Amarr now have the biggest hauler...
I mean maybe this is just me, but isn't it kind of weird that amarr can take an old slaveship and somehow convert it into the largest hauler in the galaxy while gallante who use a modular system to create haulers of pretty much any size from standart parts can't seem to improve half as much on the superior design...
Well, I guess it really is Amarr for the win...

Just live with the fact that you chose to select the gallente race industrials because it seemed like they'd be ahead in the transport industry. Now that it seems like thats gonna change you're not happy with it. boohoo let me tell you. Im welcoming this change and its about time other races got some attention to the industrial ships.

Edited by: Nero Scuro on 30/03/2005 06:34:12 I have to ask, but who really cares? It's just a big box with engines attached. So the Amarrians get a whole 1400m3 more. Woo. I bet they're laughing it up, in their *slightly* larger box.
Does it make a difference? Does that 1400m3 *really* matter? Yeah, so they can fit an extra giant box inside their even bigger box.
I guess if you're a transport nut this matters to you, but when you obsess over boxes so much, you really have to take a step back and wonder why the hell you even care. Their 1400m3 is hardly ruining your game. You can still transport crap-loads of stuff. Nothing has changed to the Iteron V, it still rocks. If the Iteron had been nerfed, then yeah, feel free to complain, but all you're doing is complaining because you want to best thing.
If over-large, slow boxes are your thing, then just train Amarrian ships. It aint that hard. ---------------- Haha, stupid monkey! Now I'VE got the Oscar! Enjoy your worthless gun! |

And to this end the Caldari and Minmitar transports could do with an extra midslot for the shield tank (t'other ones should armour tank, apparently - sounds daft to me, but someone else can argue that - I presume that's why they get the extra lowslots). They could all do with being a bit nippier, really, I recon. -- OTO are selling Impel and Bustard transport ships. Contact Tsavong Lah or Lacero Callrisian for details. Actually, industrial ships have been the most balanced thing in-game for a long time, which has illustrated by the fact that they have very rarely been changed.
For a long time, the only skill *really* worth training to level 5 (without *having* to to reach another skill-tree) was Gallente Industrial 5. At Level 1 - 4, you had a fairly competent Industrial ship (Iteron 1 - 4) but the other races were better. Bessie, being the best Level 1 industrial. However, you spent the 30+ days to train Gal Ind 5 and then you had THE best industrial ingame. It was all about balancing short-term gains with long-term payoffs. Perfect balance.
These changes to this balance will clearly throw the whole game off course and the end of the world is nigh! Ok, it may not be that bad, but it does need looking at.

I do NOT fly Amarr or Caldari ships (its a thing called Racial pride)
and how is it Balancing that Amarr now have the largest hauller with the most Armor ??
we Gallente goes from having the best hauller ingame to the Amarr doubling the size of their hold
you say well its only 1400 more I say besides the point how much it is
the Amarr went from 4 low slots to 7 what part of that can you not understand ??
I like my training in lvl 5 Indy I would however also be complaining if it was the Minnie that had that big of a increase (and I fly their ships

Yes the Gallente have the best T1 Indy in the game, this however doesn't mean the other races are sitting still.
The Amarr smuggled a spy into the Gallente transport industry and stole the modular technology and thus created a better transporter. End of story.

problem with that Idear is that aparently the Amarr are much smarter than the Gallente
they found a way to make 4 low slots into 7 while us Gallente is only smart enough to make 5 into 6

then lets just say they out manuevered you in the R & D department. Times change, the empire expands, or perhaps in the future, contracts. but all in all, just remember that the UK used to be the world's "most powerful nation" and now it is the USA, and China is catching up. CCP recognizes that nothing stays the same. Also a reason for new ship types and player owned structures.

And Gallante are not even all that good when it comes to drones either because they don't get a tier 2 battleship that has a drone bonus but only a tier 1 that has less then 10000 base grid - and what's even sader, the Gallante tier 1 for 60-70 mil is usually looked at as a better combat ship then their tier 2 for 140mil. thats what kinda gets me one of the few advantages we Gallente has is our haullers are the biggest and best you say 1400 M3 you are right thats no big deal what is the big deal that the Amarr has so vastly improved their ships over the rest of us (thats a 75% increase in low slots)
its not the 1400 M3 its the fact that the Amarr (again) are getting the better ship
I am Gallente this is something I am proud of I roleplay enough to not fly Caldari ships as well as Amarr ships
I am a supporter of the Minmantar (therefore I fly their ships) although I dont hate neither the Caldari or the Amarr
I am also imensely proud that my Iteron 5 has (had I lost it today to a PvP'er) a 23K hold without cans (3X26% expanders and 2X27%)
now I will no longer have the bragging rights this is true but the fact is that the Amarr made a 75% increase in their low slots vs our 20% increase
are Amarrian Scientist's really that much better than Gallente and if so why ?? (because the devs play Amarr is a really **** poor excuse)

People people, Can we all calm down here, forget how many m3 are gained, a 70% bonus vs a 20% bonus simply can't balance. I am Gallente, I fly only Gallente ships and I take great pride knowing that we specialized in hauling and hauling technology..this is something that has been taken and added to the amarr crown..while saddned by this prospect I will not get angry, i'll simply hold out hope that we incorporate the planc bubble technology directly into our next indy thus placing us back at the top. Thank you -------------------------------------------- NEW! 1/1 scale assembled plastic model benco97, Six different poses, Buy one NOW!*

Like there is going to be a next indy once the quintessential 2 tech 2 versions have been added...
By the way, I only fly Gallante too and take pride in not giving in to the hype and becoming a FOTM pilot...

Oh noes, CCP didn't hand the best haulers to people who wouldn't need to train any skills at all in order to use them Buuhuu.
