Most of the time, pvp in eve isnt a pvp. Its a chaser vs runner. If there were some frigate pvp tournaments with prizes i think things would get more interesting. Maybe its alot of trouble, but atleast we would have pvp where both or all players fight willingly, and know the opponent has to follow same rules. Maybe a max of 128 teams allowed each week or 2 times a month for a competition. And a ranking on the site would be cool too, to see who pwnz.

there are occasional unofficial Osprey tournaments which are fun. As for official... eh.. i dont know

Actually, I think that if these tournaments or other arranged fights were common, I'd be bored with this game in no time.
What pvp needs is not more pvp for the sake of it, but a reason to pvp. PvP is a tool in the greater arena of corp/alliance competition. Let's just make it wirthwhile to use as such again instead of just fragging whatever we find on our paths.

Because nobody has started one. Start one and people will come.
If you want a bit of PVP without risk, the test server is good for practice.

Want a PvP tournament? Play EVE, and stop assuming that this is UO or whatever other crappy game where PVP is seperated from everything else. EVE = PVP. Stop trying to marginalize it.

A single one-off event in 2 years doesn't mean that the whole game should be based around it.
There was also the Caldari races. Why aren't they in the game as official events every week? Why don't we have elections like the Gallente elections every other day?
For exactly the same reasons that the Amarr Championship was a one-off. Like others have said, if the original poster wants to organise something - he can go knock himself out, but to base the whole game around it is just lunacy.
Not everyone likes to PvP.

Well, i would atleast like to see more of those. It wouldnt bother or change anything for those who wouldnt like it.
