Hi !
I accepted a big courier contract but got podded in low sec with my iteron before picking up the package on my way to Jita to unload it before going to the pick up location I then contacter the owner, he gave me the collateral which is very nice from him.
But now there is an issue because the guy doesn't see the items in his assets list. What happened to them ? Is he supposed to get his items back somewhere or somehow ? Or once the contract is created and failed, he never sees the items again ? (and in this case I would refund him his collat).
Thanks for your answers.

I'm not sure what you mean about giving him back his collateral. The way it works is he sets a collateral comparable to the value of the cargo, you accept the contract and pick it up at his station, then haul it to the station he designated and then mark the delivery as completed.
If you lost his cargo, you don't have to pay him anything. He is entitled to your collateral you already provably in that case, so he should have kept that collateral until you delivered. |

I don't know much about courier contracts but I would guess that the package is in your hangar at the customer's station. |

It won't appear in his assets if the contract is still being handled by you, it will stay in your assets.

Thanks for your answers.
Couriers gone bad 101:
* You accepted it but didn't pick it up --> It's in your hangar. (If you still have time, you can still run the courier if you want) * You accepted it but it went overdue on time ---> It's in your possession but the other party can fail the contract and collect the collateral
* You got ganked while transporting it and it dropped ---> The ganker likely has it, the owner has to wait till the contract is overdue and then fail it to collect the collateral. * You got ganked while transporting it and it got destroyed ---> It's lost and the owner has to wait for overdue time and then fail it to collect collateral.
** Before a courier contract is accepted the owner can delete the courier contract to get his items back. ** If a courier contract is accepted, the owner can ONLY wait till it's overdue and then fail it to collect he collateral, he won't get his items back (this is why collateral is always high enough *if not higher* to replace ISK lost due to not receiving your items back)
Collateral is put into escrow from your wallet the moment you accept the contract, you won't have to give it too the owner manually, if he fails the contract the collateral in escrow is given to the owner of the contract, if you finish the contract the collateral is given back to you.
The same with the payment of the contract, it goes into escrow and is given to the party that earned it (completion = to the courier pilot, failure = back to the owner).
This owner was nice to give you the collateral back, normally it's kind of an insurance so people don't steal your stuff. Inject your skillbook before you leave the station. I found his package in my stuff yes, I'm gonna give him back his stuff. Not sure how (it's only Isogen). Is there a way to donate that to him but not in ISK ?
Thanks ! |

I presume that you're not on a trial account because you're hauling, if so you can use a contract to give it back to him, it will however cost you a little Isk.
Find the item in your assets, right click it and select make contract, you'll want to be doing a private item exchange, fill in the box with his character name, leave the I will receive boxes blank, double check the contract before you complete, the game will ask you if you are sure you want to do it, click yes, job done.
