That said, training both Destroyer 5 and Battlecruisers 5 are well worthwhile on their own merits.

Destroyer 5 is what, a week or 10 days training maybe depending on your implants and remaps? I trained it up as soon as I saw the specs on the new ships, had previously been sitting at 3 since I hadn't used a destroyer in years. I've also finally started training T2 rockets and light missiles to round out my T2 small weapons systems skills.

Yeah, but when you have a remap planned right after christmas it's a pretty huge waste to train it 3 months earlier when you neither got implants or stats fit for it. |

I am doing the same thing. I could care less about Destoyers until I read about the new caldari missle boat. |

Like someone said earlier Destroyer 5 is a 6-10 day train. That is really not much in the grand scheme of things. Especially seeing how the destroyers will be decent now.
I have my alt that is full Cha for leadership training rushing the frig/cruiser skills to 3, and destroyers/BC 5 just so I get the extra SP when they do make the train. It is something like two weeks longer of a train because of the remap I am in, but it is well worth not having to train all 4 racial BC and destroyer skills to 5 later. |

Only if you've trained frigate and cruiser skills in the race in question to lvl 3 or 4. Can't recall |

Not to mention Destroyers V + Science V + Racial Frigate V + some assorted other stuff gets you dictors, which are of course of great utility in null.
(Well Science V isn't necessary to fly the dictor, but it's necessary to use the module that's the entire point of flying dictors.

It's also the wrong assumption because having BC to V does not entitle you to fly every battlecruiser in the game. You also need the associated Cruiser skills. |

Right. So get all cruisers to III and when you have Battlecruisers at V then you will have all racial battlecruiser skills at V when the change comes.
