I remember clearly that CCP announced there would be a skill together with the launch of Exodus that would let the ones who trained it see pilots in space. At lvl5 you would be able to see people in space up to 5 jumps away, and the data would also be updated slightly more often, if I remember correctly.
Unfortunately I can't remember the name of the skill though, the one that never came... So I ask you now CCP, why did you can this skill and are now implementing the 30 minute average pilots in space thingy? Without saying anything at all to the community about it?

oh, htey announced the 30 min delay option as most likely to make it weeks ago already. You just missed it it seems.
More skills for something like pilots in space is a bit o.t.t. imo. _______________________________________________

Imo POS should be able to see 5 jumps away with 100% accuracy. So maybe there is a reason for alliances to build them.

I believe they actually tried to implement the skill based thing on the test server or something like it where you could only see so many jumps ahead of you on the map. I think it really screwed up the map big time and much lag was reported so they canned it. -------------------------

To be able to see number of pilots in space is simply bad. Discard that from the game so that we can have more fun. This way it simply sucks. Tell me, how can a pilot see 1234567 jumps away? I know this game is not very realistic but 'pilots in space' i just bad. Why don't you start counting npcs also? Or are they not pilots? My bet is that CCP had this installed to be able to track players at the beginning but now it's just not good.
All that do not agree with me are free to have their own opinion... and are free to pod themselves right away

It wasnt lag, the code just ate to much CPU time. --------------------------------------------------

Pilots in Region could be cool.
The market is limited to the region you are in - why can't the map be? -- jamesw Rubra Libertas Militia

duh, why would you need to know whose in curse when you are in venal ?
its the systems around you that are important.
And ofc, in any other situation you load up and alt in the region you want and check the map.
nope, not good, next try
