I am a long time Eve player but have only recently started to delve in to manufacturing. I am finding it hard to work out the best way to optimize the use of my BPO's -
I was under the impression that it was normal to have BPO's being almost constantly researched and manufacturing being done off BPC's. However, copy time seems to be longer than production time (at a pos).
Given this - What is the best way to utilize my BPO's? I am trying to avoid having them being researched with no copies being available as I then cannot manufacture. Equally though, copying enough runs for a week then researching the BPO while running the manufacturing jobs simply delays the issue.
Any advice would be much appreciated.
Thanks. |

Get two of each BPO. Research one while using the other. Then switch. |

There is really no better way than that?
Especially not a good option for the more expensive BPO's. |

Generally, you are better off producing off BPOs than BPCs. The only area where it's better to produce off BPCs is T1 ship production (more expensive BC and BS), when profitability fluctuates a lot and you have to switch to different products.
Everywhere else (T2 components, capitals, rigs, T1 items) it's much better to produce off BPOs. |

Don't put all your eggs in one basket.
I try to have 5-10 bpos in research at the same time while i am building the other ones which are already complete. Once something stops being profitable, i drop it back into 'more research' if needed or to churn out bpc's for corp usage/contracts.
You do not need to reach "perfect ME/PE" levels to make a profit. Going past 20 (or 10/5/2 in some cases) will bring you a marginal increase in profits and that is an acceptable loss. Especially if you are going to be making a 10-30% profit per item. In comparison a 0.1% loss is not worth the extra 3 months of research time that might take to reach 'near perfect levels'.
A good site i've found to help me decide when i want to stop the me research has been chrukers http://games.chruker.dk/eve_online/inventory_search.php
Can search for the bpo in that link, check out how big of a gain each extra ME level will bring and decide... how high it needs to be. The only ones i 'over research' are the ones which may go on contracts (1b+ bpos) |
