Is this a viable option? I'll have BS lvl 4 in a couple of weeks and thought I may as well start in the Morris Mini, rather than the Rolls... 
The Scorp should lend itself supremely well to passive shield tanking, so I'm considering something along the lines of:
4 x Siege
(what about a couple of cruiser-sized guns for close-flying frigs?)
------
AB, web, 6 x large extenders/rechargers.
------
4 x shield power relays
Haven't done the calcs, but 14+k shield and 75+ hp/sec recharge at max should be easily attainable, although probably without a web. AB I can't/won't do without, otherwise it would be better still.
Can the Scorp handle the hardest lvl 4s though, in terms of dealing enough damage?

No. Next patch will remove the shield buffs. It will be a super helper ship during missions though I think, since EW will start working on NPCs, and that is where the Scorpion shines. Just smack them with the stinger (that means EW stuff) and let the poison do its work.

Anyway, are you saying it can't be done, or simply that the Scorpion isn't partcularly suited to the task? EW is out as far as I'm concerned, at least for a long time still and I'm thinking solo missions here...

shield bonus will be replaced with a EW bonus.
Been trying this option out this weekend and so far its worked pretty good and I haven't scratched my paint yet.
Hi: Sieges
Med: ShieldBooster, Amp, 4x Hardener Specific for Damage type, 2x CapRecharge
Low: 2 BCU, 2 PDS
Drones: Orgres for Serpentis (thermal).
Its worked farely well. Good torp skills and Ogres tip the DPS just high enough to beat the tank of a 1.25mil Pirate. Named pirate missions are doable, but only when careful to agro one group at a time. Will still need to warp-out and regroup periodical.

Cheers mate, that's what I was wondering about! If you should happen to try out a passive tank in the next few weeks, be sure to post here again, will you? 
Btw, no guns or anything in the high slots? How come? I was thinking maybe a couple of heavyor focused pulses to deal with frigs and drones....

i just left it blank because almost anything put there is good. there should be about 2.5k powergrid left too play with so anything goes. maybe a large turret for more anti-bship dps for those big boys.

The Scorp is losing its missle velocity bonus and its max shields bonus April 6th. I would suggest just getting a raven now.

75hp/s is not much without hardeners. my raven sustains 90hp/s {for about 7 minutes which is enough for all missions}with 4 hardeners and boosters. also wih 4 launchers u have no chance to break tank of supreme drone parasites and no chance to tank 2 of them along with 2 sentries {probably hardest lvl4 mission} get raven as most of ppl do for lvl4 missions

I break the tank of the supreme drone parasites with my setup and I tank 2 supreme drone parasite with 2 sentrys. scorps can handle it if skills are good enough.

In my setup i can tank most lvl4 missions, but lack of firepower keeps annoying me.
Hi : 4x siege , 2x heavy NOS
Med : XL C5-l SB, SB AMP, 4x hardeners(2x both types), 2x Cap recharger II's
Low: 1x BCU, 3x PDS II's
Tanks well and cap is no issue.

Too bad about the scorpion shield changes. It's making the Raven the only real combat-battleship for the Caldari.

@Jusu: Try switching out a PDS with another BCU. If your cap skills are good you will still have no problem.
I also switched the 2 x heavy NOS and 1 hardener for 2 x Heavy Ions and a AB for added DPS. Its a compromise because you've lessened the tank, but your DPS is higher. Tank should still be good enough for almost all level4's if right skills are good.
