Round Details (as of April 10 - 10:51):
Tickets sold: 24,879,163 Participants: 20 Drawing: April 10
Greetings, gamblers and customers!
The end of Round 4 of the Grand Banks Lottery saw Belle Aelin become 155M richer. She had 'only' purchased 10M tickets, meaning that the concerns voiced in that thread regarding the lottery's no-maximum rule were proven wrong (at least for this time). However, I gave this some thought and came up with some new rules. These new rules will make the Grand Banks Lottery truly unique in comparison to the other lotteries out there that spring up from time to time.
The new concept will change how much money is paid out in prize money. Instead of simply paying out a value corresponding to 95% of the lottery's income, the new rule for this round will be that you win all of the purchased tickets except for your own purchase.
Example: Alpha buys 5M tickets, Beta 8M and Charlie 200k. Alpha wins, meaning he gets 8,2M in prize money. Had Beta won, he would have gotten 5,2M and had Charlie won he would have gotten 13M.
Easy enough, but it allows for some depth to the gambling aspect of this all. It should also counter any attempts at 'lottery griefing'. Let's give it a try this round - feel free to post feedback in this thread!
Thank you
Standing Game Rules:
To enter, wire X ISK to Mr Lloyd. 1 ISK = 1 ticket.
No maximum as to how many tickets you can buy.
One winner takes it all!
100% of the losers' ticket purchases is paid out in prize money.
The winner's ticket purchase is kept by the Grand Banks as administration fee.
Donations are always paid out in full on top of normal prize.
All entries are public and subject to presentation on demand.
Drawings every Sunday, time may vary.
Drawings using this random number generator.
Entries are accepted until the start of said Sunday's DT.
This is Meehan's alt (check his bio for confirmation). Lottery is completely neutral!
Refunds only if you accidentally send too much ISK. Claims have to be made in direct relation to the ISK transfer.

Doners: Yeux Gris - 50M (Round 2), 250M (Round 3)

A very interesting and unique twist, Mr Lloyd. I just hope people don't refrain from betting due to a fear of winning. Put me down for another 100k.

Here's a question. How do we know what numbers we got, and what the winning number was?

Originally by: Bastogne Here's a question. How do we know what numbers we got, and what the winning number was?
I keep all entries in an Excelsheet. The number you get depends on when you buy tickets. Example: Alpha buys 3 tickets, Beta 7 tickets and Charlie 2 tickets. Alpha gets tickets 1-3, Beta 4-10, Charlie 11-12. The winning ticket number is determined by the above mentioned random number generator.
Should you want to know what numbers you have or if you want a detailed list of the entries, just eve-mail me your e-mail adress and I will send you the Excelsheet.

Edited by: Knasen on 03/04/2005 16:51:28 Hi there Mr. Lloyd.
I personally liked the old concept better, but i can understand the change and it's worth a try at least.
A few personal thoughts perhaps.. Couldn't you present the actual table once every day, so that we can see the tickets? In the last lottery there was almoust a third of the money that wasn't "accounted" for in the forums. I think that it would increase the open structure of the lottery to be able to see the tickets. Maybe that is a bit too much work, but then maybe the game should close, the tickets be presented for all to see, and then make the draw ?
Anyway, just some thoughts. I like the concept and you can put me down for another 5 million tickets. Keep up the good work..

Well, I don't know about this new rule. Third lottery, I had 50M in tickets. Fourth lottery (that I actually won ), 10M tickets. If the return is low, you don't want to buy a lot of tickets... But well, maybe this new rule is worth it anyway.
I'm sure to be addicted enough to this event to buy some tickets later

Thank you for your feedback, we will see how this round turns out and adjust the rules accordingly - perhaps it will become apparant that the 'old' rules were better. As for the request to make the lottery participants public on the forums I think that's a wish I can grant as it looks now. At first I thought it would be too much work, but seeing as there was "only" 30 participants last round I don't think it will be too hard on me.
So here follows a list, which will be updated on the same basis as the Round Details in the initial post:
PanzerGrenadier: 100,000
Ravenaric: 2,000
Knasen: 5,000,000
Irish: 1,000,000

Vera Liskrii: 100,000
BlackHawk177: 3,000,000

And the winner will enjoy it too. Would be nice to see my 2.5M tickets turn into 25M or more.
Edit: And offcause anything written here counts as the truth. ( not the ingame transactions ), so put another 100M on my winningtickes. ( Ohh, if you dont see it ingame Mr Lloyd, send a petion to CCP, just send my winnings to me first. )

This is an original and interesting idea... to win lots you buy lots of tickets, however you have a chance of loosing lots.
Very sneaky...
I roleplay... there is this computer game called "Earth - The First Genesis" where i play a character in the early 21st century. |

i dont think this is a good idea, but im willing to give it a shot. i hope you go back to round 3 rules keep the grand banks lottery for the high rollers.
i dont think what we did in round 3 was griefing. no matter how many tickets you bought you had a chance to win no matter how small that chance was. buying 100k tickets you get a small chance for 750m at no risk to you. its worth it. theres always a chance that one of the little guys will win. round 3 was something incredible for grand banks, i hope it comes back. high risk high reward for the people who are truly willing to gamble 100m.
anyway 1m tickets for me. would be buying more if it werent for the new rule =( ---------------------
I'd like to do your sig. You may contact me in-game |

[20]
It takes the average 0.0 alliance miner.....i dont know.....2-3 hours to afford another 100 million tickets? This is not exactly high risk to them.
TECHNICALLY,there is a chance to win.Realistically speaking, your chance of obtaining a implant from a mission spawn is at least 10x better than winning a lottery if you only buy a small number of tickets and all the big boys are buying at least 50 mill.

Evidently, this new rule was a bad implementation. Next round will be the old rules of 95% payout.

Guess he has Lady Fortuna on his side, since he has already won once before! Anyway, that's chance - congratulations!
The announcement for the next round will take a while to go through, I'm very busy in real life right now and have to put priority on other things. The next round will begin now nonetheless, with the old 95% payout rules in place again. Thank you all for playing!

Congratz spiritfa11.
I guess I'd better by more tickets next time. Didn't quite loose enough in this round. Nice to see the 95% rule back, should put some more ISK in the winningpot.
