Edited by: PleasureSlave Rachel on 03/04/2005 15:48:22 Generically, how does one get envolved in PvP action "the right way". What is the best way to learn (join corp, alone, etc)? What are the main strategies (I hear of gate camping, etc)? However, I want try to be honorable.

IMHO The best way is to join a corp that sees a lot of PVP action. There are a lot of tricks to PVP they can teach you, and tend to have a lot of resources that you can learn with.. Frigates are expenable but see a lot of use in PVP and are a great way to get the basics down.

Edited by: Weco on 03/04/2005 17:42:35 Yes, use frigates to start with, many ppl seem to get thier best ship first time they PvP. Get a frigate with 3 midslots (best t1 tackler is vigil imo) and fit a MWD, a webber and a warp disruptor. You can scout and tackle (warp scramble and/or web the target) which is both cheap and vital to the fleet youre in. After youve done a bit tackling for a couple of weeks you will be ready to start using a cruiser, this ofcourse depends if you can afford to lose it. And finaly when you feel that you can handle most situations in a cruiser you can begin pvp in a batteship, if you can afford it.
Try joining a corp in a big alliance, hence you can get pvp when you feel like it and not like merc's for example, who has to pvp once they have undocked. -----------------------------------

My first pvp ship was a rifter, it is a good pvp and you only need minamal skills to set it up half decent. its also farly cheap. My first taste of pvp was in a role play corp the ushra'khan, they have a lot of experianced and new fighters who can teach you the basics of pvp. Then when you think your good enough you can progress out to 0.0 where all the real fun is.

Buy a few dozen rifters and a stack of guns, MWDs, warp scramblers, and ammo.
Go shoot people.
Repeat as needed.

Stick to frigs until you can afford to lose something bigger, cause you will. Thats not me being patronising, thats me speaking from personal experience. If you dont have enough money to replace your ship, setup and clone at least twice, dont fly it.
The hardest thing about pvp i find is keeping my temper on ts when i lose my ship :)
I got siggy!!
