There has obviously been posts on this before - but using the "squeaky wheel" concept I am posting on it again.
There is a lot of confusion around the Trade skills it seems. Nevertheless, Procurement is broken - and after training the skill it's a real kick in the ass to learn that the time has been wasted.
I have verified this by, outside of a station, attempting to place a remote buy order.
A character I used with no Procurement skill gets this message: "Your current Skill level only allows you to place arbitrary bids in stations."
A character I used that has Procuement level 2 gets this message: "Choose a station to relay your order" along with a list of stations.
The problem is that at level 2 I should be able to set is from any station within a 5 jump radius - and I can't. It only lists the stations in the current solar system.
This seems to confirm what is said on the forums at Eve-I - that currently only Procurment level 1 works.
Please fix this right away - or remove the additional levels of procurement and refund the time. Still - this skill is fundamental to the trading profession in the game, and I can't see why this isn't a priority.
Thanks.

Edited by: Ashis on 04/04/2005 14:52:37 I'm not surprised I'm a little slow to the punch on this - but without any search features for these forums I wasn't going to drudge through to try to find previous posts.
The problem with this is that most players think that procurement is somehow associated with the "Range" field when placing a buy order - and they don't realize it is much more powerful then that. So they just assume that it is working correctly. On the flip side people seem to be fairly tight-lipped about explaining procurement both because they have no clue, and also because they don't want people to understand how powerful it is.
This skill, along with Marketing, pretty much defines an entire "class" inside the game, and I can't believe that such an easily producible, obviously buggy feature that is so fundamental to a trader hasn't been fixed yet. What would happen if shields didn't work for PVPers? Or if refining didn't work for miners? Procurement really is half of the equation and I implore (beg, plead) with CCP to make this a priority. __________

You can place remote buy orders if you know how I don't know if this is how it is meant to work but it works

Little Terror - you made my day.
Granted, this work around comes with the limitation of not being able to set up a remote buy order in a station that isn't already selling the product - but still - this is a *far* better temporary solution then the one I was working with: which was waiting for CCP to fix it.
Thank you!
For those that actually understand procurement (and a key to this is realizing it is in no way tied to the "Range" field on the "Place Buy Order" screen) as LT said this works:
Quote: Nope it works, to place a remote buy order for nocxium at say nonni while your sat in a station in sobaseki. You open the market screen then bring up nocxium find a sell order at nonni for nocxium, say it was 10,000 units for 410 isk. But you want to buy nocx for 350 isk per unit, so you'd right click on any sell order for nocx that is at a station in nonni. Then select buy this, then click on advanced you can then set the price time in days or months and the amount you wish to buy. Thats the remote buy order setup 5 jumps away from you, damn that was hard to explain in words

Very useful bit of information there, although the workaround will be a pain for anyone who wants to buy at a number of stations, or who is after something unusual.
If I'm placing multiple remote buy orders, I'm more likely to buy where I don't have competition and so can get a better price. Those stations are where there are less likely to be sell orders I can use to create my remote buy order using the workaround suggested.
Because of problems like this, I haven't advanced my trade skills to the level I was originally considering. I use remote sell orders regularly, and have the skill to do so across most of the region I am in, but don't use remote buy orders precisely because of this problem.
I'd also like to see this changed to allow us to place a remote buy order in any station within the range our level of procurement skill allows. |
