so im running along in my destroyer and see a bounty player in .3 space....thinking ok, well they say anything lower than .5 is risky, I should be ok from concord here to try and collect some isk. but even in .3 space I get blasted...lose a ship and the items with it, which considering its everything I had for the week ive been playing, isnt too cool. So then my question is why is the pvp aspect so confusing and where can i actually try and get a bounty if anywhere. thanks for the noob patience and answers :)

bounty's dont mean anything, security status is what counts.
if a player has a security status of -5 (or worse) you can shoot him anywhere anytime.
anything higher than that, say -4.7 and game mechanics will still protect him.

bah no fun thanks for the answer though :)
so then what about bounties in 0.0 space that rule i assume does not apply?

You can shoot anyone anywhere in 0.0.
As a general rule though, player bounties simply arent a viable source of isk. One, catching pods in anything larger then a frigate is near-impossible, and even in a frigate many will escape. Two, most people with bounties will have them for a reason, and also tend to have friends.

Basically unless the target bracket is filled with a flashing red light, don't shoot it in Empire.

Who needs the corpse..my ego is big enough without them.
