Hello, sorry if this has been answered but I'm not finding anything from searching. I'm a returning casual player that hasn't played in over a year and I had something strange happen last night. I was warping across a lowsec sytem in my cloak/mwd fit mammoth like I always used to do, but the exact second I reached the gate I was instantly podded before the jump happened.
Is there a new mechanic that allows vulnerability when coming out of warp and jumping to the next system? Does lag or something cause this? I was not on autopilot. My physical actions were as follows: jumped into the system->cloak/mwd align to target gate->used "jump" key-> warped across system-> insta podded by gatecamp the exact second I reached the gate, before I could complete the jump.
Additional info: I was killed by an Ammatar Navy Large EMP Smartbomb. Is it possible I was collateral damage from other fighting? It happened the exact instant I warped in so I dont see how I could have been targeted.

Fit a bunch of large smart bombs in the highs. Large ship = large blast radius.

Once I got my security status above 0.5 it stopped. |

Not to turn this into the new player forum, but can you start out with a negative standing? This started after I finished my tutorial, went to Rens, and then took my first trip to Amamake. I swear I did not have any negative standing except maybe with angels. I do know that when my overall standing hit 0.5 it stopped. |

There's sometimes a lag between landing and jumping with the jump key when you're cloaked. You probably landed, decloaked, approached gate a few meters and got hit before you jumped. |

I was uncloaked for the duration of the warp, including when I arrived. Looks like I got unlucky or they were amazingly quick with the smartbomb. I wasnt aware that there was any vulnerability when warping to a gate using "jump", and now I know there is a window before the jump goes through when you can get jacked. Thanks for the replies. |

If you were uncloaked chances are he saw you warping on d-scan and got set up early. :) |

Same thing happened to me last week.
Best advise I had was:
when you enter system,
* open your map;
* set it on solar system view;
* find your exit gate on the map;
* check the path between your location and your exit gate;
* find a different celestial that's not in line with that path;
* warp to that celestial first before warping to the exit gate.

I was ending a milk-run in a Nemesis thru Rancer a week ago, flying gate to gate (a bad move, I know), and as I'm slowing down after the run I see a cluster of BSs (Rokhs, I think), a bright flash, and suddenly my ship was gone and my pod was sitting at home. :) Either these guys PERFECTLY timed their smarties blast, or I perfectly timed my arrival.  Boom, that fast. Congratulated one of the guys and had a good laugh over it. |

Smartbomb Pirates can only kill you if you are in a ship they can alpha. And it is very easy to Smartbomb a ship coming out of warp. I mean, they see you coming all the way in.
Warp acceleration is such bullox in this game.

To carve a successful niche for yourself in EVE you need to be able to out sell, out produce, out fight,-á out run, or out wit your competitors.
If you can do none of the above, your only option is to complain on the forums that somehow you are at a disadvantage using the exact same tool set-áas the rest of the player base. |

Ive seen this before its was a smartbombing bs on gate. My main ( main baned from forums right now love haveing more then one account ) has seen this with frigs had ten in fleet we warp at diffent times me and 2 other pilots made it though the gate but our other 7 friends got poped on the gate do to a smartbombing bs. I got lucky i some how warp in after the first volley so i got lucky. the 2nd you come out of warp and the volley hit you done for unless you have high res and hp. Welcome to low sec and gate bombing.

I have a friend who is a hotshot Wolf pilot, who engaged someone flashy on the Amamake gate. Of course, they hotdropped on her.
They hotdropped her with an Erebus.
Needless to say that attempting to kill a single frigate with an Erebus did not work and she simply flew around it in a circle and then warped away. |

They are also stabbed to the max. The only way to catch them is a Heavy Dictor with scripts loaded. You also have to have a heavy dictor on both sides of the gate. They are annoying and a pain in the ass to catch. |

Stop going into low with a mammoth and go with either:
a merlin or frig with around 8-10k ehp
a cloaky hauler
otherwise you will get smartbombed or pointed. |

My point is, he could at least fit it to tank something. The fittings he currently has are just a waste of isk because he might as well leave all those slots empty except for the 2 cargo expanders.

Didnt read every post so might have been answered... but
It is called a smartbombing BS. And they work wonders for killing low ehp ships.
It is simple really. You place the bs about 10km from the gate inline with another gate spam your dscan etc etc |

Yah just confirming smartbomb camp. Sucks... not much you can do about that one. It takes a lot of people to set up right, and it's kind of a one-tactic setup, but it happens. Lost a well tanked crane to one of those one time. I was sitting there trying to figure out wtf happened for a while too. Then I looked at the killmail.
