Police are now allowed to set up surveillance cameras on peoples private property without a warrant.

That is terrible but at least they did it for a noble cause.
Stopping no real amount of ********* use and costing the tax payers hundreds of thousands of dollars in holding these guys.
Now they can do it to anyone. |

Pretty much. I remember a Panorama documentary years ago that showed leaked police reports that at night the control teams in one part of London I believe, were just watching couples having sex in cars. |

Sounds like they're arguing that if you can fly over someone's land and see what's going on, then you can place surveillance devices as well. Just a long as they don't try to look into your house or its immediate vicinity.

Look into using microwave oven parts :) might not technically be an EMP but directed high energy radio frequencies may have some interesting effects on unwanted electronic devices.

This is a popular sport for cops in the U.S. too. And also listening in on people's baby monitor radios. The radio circuit broadcast's nighttime sounds not only from baby's room, but also from mom and dad's.... |

Funny story actually;
When we had our first baby we bought a video baby monitor, mic etc....
Set the thing up, but a small camera in a window about 100m away was on channel 3. I can only hope that the baby monitor camera couldn't be received in their house .
On the flip side though could see up their whole street on a different channel. |

I can pretty much guarantee the baby monitor was available to anyone within a certain radius. It's the same with cordless phones. They only rarely have any sort of encryption.
Although, similar to what Surfin' mentioned, it's perfectly legal for anyone, including government agencies, to park on the street in front of your house and intercept any electronic signals which may reach from your house to the street. Generally, people aren't aware just how much of their lives is waiting to be eavesdropped on, so it's a bit of a field day for anyone who wants to. If you have anything on wireless it can be received by anyone. Pretty scary to think about if there is no way to set a password. My neighbor had his security cameras on wireless until I showed him the view from my laptop. Now he's cabled in. |

It's one of life's subtle ironies really;
In the 80's there were tonnes of night horror movies with the cliche "I feel like I'm being watched.... arggghhhh!"

As long as they're higher than 400 feet they can do it if they feel like it. Think of it as public domain airspace

Funny story... if you have a wireless signal in your house someone who knows what they're doing can see exactly what you're doing (irl) within range of the wireless signal.

As soon as the US starts suffering from losses in productive farmland due to climate change caused by global warming, we're going to annex Canada in order to acquire farmland and resources.
