Consider this, DEVS, as this is not hard to implement.
Duel Mode allows two players to an agreed PvP duel even in high security space without any police repurcussion or reduction in security level.
Player A clicks on Player B's avatar. The usual ship/player menu comes up, this time however with a new command---"Duel".
When "Duel" is chosen, it sends a message to Player B to accept or refuse like in any standard gang or communication chat.
If Player B refuses, there will be no duel and any attack on Player B will have security rating and police repurcussions.
If Player B accepts, a new chat window is opened called duel, which allows Player A and B to communicate with each other, talk smack or set terms for the agreed match.
The match between players will take place without any police and security level repurcussions. It ends with the destruction of one ship or one of the players calling it quits.
Typing "/quit" in the Duel mode chat line informs the other player that he is surrendering or quiting the match. Police and security law takes control one minute after the surrender notice is given.
Duel mode also allows fellow corp members to test each other's mettle without police/security rating consequences.

I suggested this a month or so ago. Its a ace idea, as it allows the freelancers to have "wars" as well.

you can already attack your fellow corp members without DUEL or anything...and i would hate being convo/duel spammed....but that is what BLOCK is for i suppose :)

don't forget to make it so they can't warp out or maybe have them set aside a part of space were if you leave it you use. Also they did promise alot of stuff on the box most of witch i am not seeing any of. there is hardly any pvp other then the occaisial hit and run.

great idea, should also be able to include more than one player as well... i.e. two corps want to fight, each side chooses their top 5 players to battle it out-- warp disabled, and a range limit set. Most the battles i've seen have included players hiding near a station or stargate, and docking/jumping after a few shots :\ must have a way to fight where there is no escape. ______________

how about make it so after the duel is over, both player's ships revert to how they were before the duel(eg no ammo lost, no ship damage taken, nothing lost) this would be great, instead of staking you're whole ship.. both players could stake... say 5m or somthing, thus allowing battleship or other pilots to duel without risking their ship
