I'm new, linky or quick (or prefferably detailed) description of what it's all about?
I've come across it a couple of times on the forums lately, but no clue what it's all about

The Gold Magnate is a unique amarr frigate, very beutiful, it was given to the winner of the amarr championship.
I had the honor to fight it in 0.0. I didnt loose, but nor did i win, it was really fast, this was a long time ago though, long before Exodus. Tyrrax has balls.... it was a unique ship though. I believe moo blew it up. Not sure. But i do know the Gold Magnate is no more

Tje amarr championship was a player event a while ago. It was a frigate competition that selected the new amarr emperor after the old one croaked. Teams of 4 competed first to become champions for their chosen candidate, then the 'champions' fought eachother. The orignal team captains were voted for by the eve community and then they selected 3 other members (iirc).
the golden magnate was given to the team captain of the winning team.

This is, in fact, correct. The Amarr Championships was used as a cunning disguise to implemention the new Golden Ratio technology into ships. The Gold Magnate was the first of the kind the have the new technology. Tyrrax is one of the enlightened children of the Golden Ratio and was deemed worthy enough to fly it. ----- ----- -----

Not to derail the thread or anything, but this "golden ratio" stuff gets boring. So drop it. :p
On topic, any stats on the Gold Magnate? :)

The Gold Magnate was awarded as one of the prizes to the winner of the Amarr Championships. After that is immediate history is hidden somewhere in the corp history of Mass, which is off limits to me. However some point 6 months or so later, it was sold on to Tyrrax Thorrk who took it out for several spins in A2, just after the second war for what used to be the old CFS teritory. Several times it came close to being destroyed by a m0o special forces group, made up largely of Minmatar pilots. (Got some old footage of it somewhere in fact) Finally, it was cornered in A2 and destroyed in a classic ambush.

So, could we have a 'minmatar championship' and then minmatar could win the 'Tin Magnate' or the 'Scrapiron Magnate'?

Well Amarr has had its championship, Caldari has had the Colossus. Gallente and Minmatar are still to have their large events.
With any luck their two will be completely different from the Amarr/Caldari events.
Im looking forward to them however, in the colossus I lost a good interceptor with a number of tech II modules but it was fun and well worth it.
As for the ship this thread is about, its sad that it has been destroyed but better it was used and lost than left in a hangar with a private collector (no offence Entity).
