Ohh my.. I got my cloak working today on my thorax, and to my supprise the team has not giving the cloak it's own noise, just gives it the same noise that you hear whene going thru the warp gate.. Not cool, that little sound alone has made me feel like I have wasted 8 days of training just to cloak my rax.

the gates auto cloak you when you jump, it was done because before that there used to be gangs of players deliberately causing lag on the other side of a gate, and shooting everything that came through, and often killing them before they even finished loading...
there is a special cloak sound, and it's not the same sound as the gate sound.. however the cloak with the gate, naturally isnt silent, so the cloak sound is now added everytime you jump

I like to play without sound as it gives the game a more spacey feeling.

The gate only makes a noise because it cloaks you automatically.

Yeah the gate sound is that boom when the gate fires. The noise your talking about is a cloaking sound, and you cloak when you reach the gate.
Which PA character are you?

I'd like them to make the cloaking sound for the modules client side only, its like someone yelling ITS BEHIND YOU when ever you attempt to kill someone after decloaking.
I would also like to see a different effect/sound for when the cloak is disrupted
Oh and remove that sig penalty, the normal delay is enough . ---

I run a Creative Soudblaster Audigy and have no problem. I *used* to with early EXODUS builds (insanely loud warp noise), but its perfectly fine now. --------------------------------------------------

Is there a chronicle explaining why you can hear anything at all in EVE?

Somewhere yeah, basically pod creates graphics you see and sound you hear, since it helps pilots with their situational awareness or some such technobabble ~{When evil and strange get together anything is possible}~ A tool is only useless when you don't know how to use it. - ActiveX The grass is always greener on the other side. - JoCool |

Sound is created by vibrations right? Well, I suppose they could invent a sensor that detects vibrations of ship's systems and creates the corresponding sound.

yeah... or they could stick with the current system in which sensors detect and simulate what sources WOULD prioduce noise in an air environemnt and simulate them for the user for comfort(read fun) purposes as is current.
I however envision the system renderign the sound differently, I once had my Caldari pilot fly a minmatar ship, and when an amarran vessel came on sensors the sounds it produced were NOT what he was used to, and even it's appearance was out of the norm.(TO comically evil proportions).
Picture that, a nasty a computer virus that makes makes capsules detect all missiles firing as defecation/farting noises, and renders all pictures of thoraxes and such as pink... suggestive... shapes.

The warp sound is penance for being a slightly more aware player.

Black 1,
When you turn on the sounds set the ingame "Master Volume" to 3.0 - 3.5 max. I'm running a Sound BLaster Live Value mixer settings are, wave 100%, Master 72%. I do use a headset and have no problems hearing on TS while warping and listening to my mp3's with a playlist generator. I can speak for those who are running any Sound BLaster card (as old as mine) up to the Audigity 2 they work fine. Hope this helps.

I swear it sounds exactly like my family members saying things like "Why is your right hand permanently curled up like it's holding a computer mouse?" or "Get off the damn computer and eat something before you starve!" or "If you're still alive, please unlock the door, or at least say something!!! PLEASE?!?" Err...wait a minute... ___________________________________________ ^^^***---All things serve the Beam---***^^^ |
