Az Tek BREAKING-POINT Primal Force 3131	Posted - 2012.11.06 05:14:00 - [1] - Quote (Quick And Dirty Version) Alright so I looked high and low and used every search engine available to find the answer to my question. It doesn't exist apparently and everyone I've asked said it can't be done. I've been asked this before so I will post the solution. Hope it helps. Esp for those who have as many custom settings as I do and want to keep them backed up for all characters. "How can I use the same settings that I use on my main on all of my characters without taking the time (a lot of time) to set them each up individually." Essentially your creating a mirror image of a target character. The only differences are the character ID numbers interpreted by the client upon start up. Each characters has a specific Value. Shortcut Keys: Windows, Combat, General, Navigation, Modules, Movement, Drones, Overview Settings: Creates a mirror image of Overview settings based on target characters settings. Market Quickbars: Creates a mirror image of Market Quickbar Items based on target characters settings. Notes: Creates a mirror image of Notepad (saved notes) based on target characters settings. Bookmarks: Creates a mirror image of Bookmarks based on target characters settings. NEOCOM: Creates a mirror image of target characters NEOCOM. Groups, what's within each group, etc,. Chat Channels Once mirror has been made you will be put in all channels your target character is in. (WARNING: Make sure to close channels before making image if you don't wish for your alts cover to be blown. ALL cached Passwords remain.) I'm sure there's more it does but have not yet had the time to test it all. Other tweaks can be made as well. Obviously this is to be used for SETTINGS ONLY. How It's Done: 1.) Find your settings folder (the following is for windows XP32BIT - Easy to locate if you have something else though) C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME_GOES_HERE\Local Settings\Application Data\CCP\EVE\c_program_files_ccp_eve_tranquility\settings * You'll be looking for the .DAT files. These are what you will use to make Images of. 2.) Make backup!! Move backup to desktop or place of preference. 3.) Once backup is made you'll want to remove all the files in the folder except for the following: a.) prefs - Configuration File b.) core_public__.yaml These two are the main clients cache and graphics file. c.) core_char__ d.) core_user__ 4.) Now we need to figure out what your char ID number is. core_user and core_char will both have different values. The first having 7 digits the later having 8. IE: core_user_1234567 - 7 digits IE: core_char_12345678 - 8 digits If you have logged into your client with more than one character/account there will be multiple files in here. You'll need to figure out which 2 files correspond with the characters you want to make copies of. To do this: Once you have taken ALL files out except for the ones listed (refer to 4a, 4b, 4c. and 4d) (NOTE: Make sure all clients are closed as well as the launcher) open up your launcher and log in the the characters you wish to make an image of. If you deleted file 4c and 4d you'll need to do the following. You'll have to click accept on the EULA etc,. Skip intro and finish out with character selection. Once in game and everything has loaded you'll need to setup your graphics If you keep them the way they are no more is needed at this point. You can now exit your client and your launcher. *** In your settings folder you should now have 2 new files. IE: core_user_1234567 - 7 digits IE: core_char_12345678 - 8 digits You now know the Char and User ID's of your target character. 5.) Now your going to want to copy these two new files and place in a file by it's self for future use. leave the pre-existing ones. Next you need to know the ID's of your other characters you wish to create mirrors for. Log in to them one by one and copy their ID number for both char and user. Let's say for now you only have 1 other character you wish to do this for. In notepad copy paste the User ID and Char ID. 6.) Delete both new Char and User files ending with 7 and 8 digits. 7.) Copy the char_user_1234567 file you moved to a separate folder in step 5 and paste it in the settings folder but now ending with the 7 digit number you put in notepad. The ID corresponding to the second character you logged in. Your alt for all intents and purposes. 8.) Do the same as step 7 but now with the core_char_12345678 file. 9.) Open new Launcher, run client, log in. All settings, channels, etc, should now be mirrored. If I forgot something I apologize it's late. To lazy to edit typos. >.< Hope this helps. I'll be taking a more in depth look at it tonight or tomorrow to see if a full contact/standings (blocked list should be contained in the same file lol) list can be imported/mirrored as well. If you want to know your charID, you can just go into the forums or onto EVE Gate and check the URL for your portrait. I stumbled upon these files just 2 days ago on my desperate search on how to copy some of the settings to my 2nd account character. @ CCP : It's nice to have separate settings on every character, but ... please see, there are also good reasons for simply copy some settings to another own character. Please make it a convenient customers choice.

You can in fact quickly find your core_char_"value" by the method you have described. However, you will still need to locate the value for core_user_'Value". And to my knowledge the only way to find the value for user_ is to use the method I have described. So either way you will still need to use the steps I have laid out. If there is another way that anyone knows please let me know. Would be appreciated. Thanks. You used to be able to get that through the API, but I think they deprecated those result fields with the new custom key format. Other than that, it's still basically possible to just guess which is which chronologically: lower number should be the oldest account, but it's a less than certain method. Still, if you do have an API key ready for your account, you can use the format https://api.eveonline.com/account/Characters.xml.aspx?keyID=[nnnnnnn]&vCode=[omgzlongstring] GÇªto get a list of your characters and their charIDs. It's debatable if the copy-pasting of API key info is any faster than just looking up the image URLs though. GÇ£If you're not willing to fight for what you have in GëívGëí you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.GÇ¥ Get a good start: newbie skill plan.

Thanks for the input but the charID is the easy part. Obtaining the UserID is the sang. Both are needed. And if they both can be found in the same place for easy access then that would be preferred. Once your logged into game on the character you wish to make images of open up your 'monitor'. This can be done by pressing "Shift + Control + Alt + M". Locate the 'Logs" Tab. Open it. Press 'stop' on log. Now sort by 'type'. The string you are looking for should now be the 6th string down assuming you've done nothing else other than logging in. This is what you will be looking for; svc::gameui \| notice\| GameUI::OnSessionChanged, Blah Blah Blah Session: (sid:0000000000000, clientID:0, mutating:0, contextOnly:False, locationid:00000000, corprole:0x0, userid:1234567, languageID:EN, role:0x00000000000000000, charid:12345678 (NOTE: Changed incriminating values to '0' as well as User and Char ID values. Within these strings you can see systems/stations/stargates/session values which can be converted to a readable format with a dictionary. ADVICE: Don't f**k with this!) You now know the Char and User ID's of your target characters. Do this for each character to obtain the values and save the values in notepad for future use. Your userid is known from (old-style) API keys and to get character ids just do Right click -> "View Image" (and then copy it from the address bar) on each of the portraits on the EVE gate character selection screen. I'm a NPC corp alt, any argument I make is invalid.

One of the first things I tried. Note, also the Old API keys will soon cease to function entirely. Had a lot of people ask me about it as well.
