Hello all !
Just finished my 14 day trial and signed up for real. A question for you all if I may ... On my skills page, my skills are listed with a "rank". I can train all of my skills up 5 levels a piece so that's easy. Each skill has a different rank rating though. I train the skills up but the "rank" stays the same. What exactly does it mean? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Rank 2 takes twice as long to train as rank 1.
Just an indication of how long its gonna take to learn the skill.

You are looking at the "Rank" from a different side :)
You do not train the Skill Rank up yourself. It is just that some of the later skills you will come across are Ranked more than Rank 1 to denote that they will take longer to learn than a Rank 1.

Example
battlleship (rank8) requires cruiser 4 (rank5) which in turn requires frigate 4 (rank1).
So let s say it takes a week to train frigate to 4.
Then it ll take 5 weeks to train cruiser to 4
And 8 weeks to train battleship to 4
So to get from frigate 4 to battleship 4 it ll take 13 weeks.
Some skills especially tech 2 skills require that you have a lot of skills trained to lvl5.

Frigate skills are rank 2, cruiser are rank 5, and battleship are rank 8. At most, it will take 4 days to get from frigate 0 -> 4. This would translate to ~10 days for cruiser 0 -> 4, and ~16 days for battleship 0 -> 4. The total would then be ~30 days for frigate 0 -> battleship 4. This is slightly under your estimate of 91 days.

Tip of the day m8, get ur learning skills up, at least to level 4, that should take less than a week for all 5 and will save you a lot of time. later on you can think about getting the advanced learning skills, which require the respective standard learning skill to level 5.
These will save you more time that you would believe.
